You may be our next Manager, Indirect Sourcing, to be located at either our Bethune, SC or Green Bay, WI or Windsor Locks, CT location.

Suominen is looking to hire a dynamic Manager, Indirect Sourcing to develop and implement strategies regarding areas of responsibility to help improve the quality of the supply chain and reduce the total cost of procurement.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making to develop and implement sourcing, procurement and supply chain strategies that are aligned with the business objectives,
  • Manage a diverse supply base comprised of various commodities/categories. Analyze and evaluate markets and supplier trends to support negotiation of supplier contracts including price, term, delivery, quality, and cost performance.
  • Coordinate the implementation of cost reduction initiatives to maximize savings and minimize risk associated with the continuity of supply.
  • Monitor supply base performance and communicate to suppliers. Maintain open communication with suppliers to communicate changes in business processes, market demands, Corrective Actions, and support the development and implementation of process improvements.
  • Support Process Technology & Asset Management, ICT activities regarding new asset and or service development through identification of quality suppliers to meet launch date, quality, and cost/margin requirements; Promote ESI (Early Supplier Involvement) to assist in product/service design and requirements and reduce launch time by including supply partners from initial design stage.
  • Establish supply chain processes that can better support our operations and meet challenging market and working capital objectives
  • Understand and facilitate Sustainability targets and actions with the supply base to meet corporate and customer requirements
  • Development of suppliers to meet company objectives regarding quality, delivery, cost, cash, sustainability and overall support.
  • Drive the Suominen savings program to establish aggressive savings targets and a path to achieve.
  • Help establish improved sourcing and purchasing processes and guidelines
  • Acknowledge and respect all safety, quality, energy and environmental practices, company policies and organizational procedures during the whole professional activity

What we expect from you:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Sourcing, Procurement or Supply Chain Management
  • Bachelor degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • Experience with MRP systems (SAP a plus)
  • Certifications such as APICS or ISM / CPIM
  • Proven experience with Sourcing processes with focus on negotiations, supplier management and development, and contract management and development.
  • Project Management aptitude and experience
  • Ability to identify, establish and implement strategic goals and priorities
  • Able to work independently but also as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and written skills
  • Ability to travel to suppliers and Suominen sites globally.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Packaging, MRO, industrial/manufacturing background / experience

In this role, you will report directly to the Vice President of Sourcing & Supply Chain Management.
