Duties Description The Manager Information Services will oversee all strategic initiative projects, planned and underway. The incumbent will serve as the Director of Business Innovation Bureau and report to the Deputy Commissioner of Administration and Finance. The duties of this position will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Spearhead deployment of strategic technology initiatives with a focus on streamlining outdated practices, modernizing applications, and adding value to key management decisions through data and analysis
  • Direct complex activities associated with various projects underway
  • Strategically plan and engage with supporting bureaus on new initiatives
  • Plan, direct and coordinate activities surrounding project management and requirements discovery sessions
  • Oversee the development of system design documentation including technical and functional design documents
  • Drive and coordinate efforts to streamline parks' business practices affected by Innovation & Automation initiatives
  • Facilitate meetings to understand and address scope, schedule, budget, risks, contingencies, and communication plans
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct testing efforts of large-scale projects
  • Manage and liaise with 3rd party vendors on application support, development of new functionality to meet agency needs, internal testing and messaging of products
  • Manage and liaise with ITS on Partnership Projects that rely heavily on working knowledge of the agency and its facilities
  • Liaise with Internal Controls and Security Officer to address risks and issues identified during internal or external reviews; develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate system risks; Escalate and resolve existing and identified risks impacting project success
  • Supervise subordinate staff

Minimum Qualifications Eleven (11) years of specialized experience.* Two (2) years of the experience must have been at a managerial level.

  • Substitutions: Associate degree may substitute for two years of specialized experience; bachelors degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience; masters degree may substitute for five years of specialized experience; J.D. may substitute for six years of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for seven years of specialized experience.

Additional Comments Salary within the posted range will be commensurate with experience. This is an appointment to a position in the exempt jurisdictional class. All exempt appointments require completion of a background check prior to appointment, and completion of an annual Financial Disclosure Statement. Incumbents serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority, and the employment relationship can be altered at any time by either party.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that allows the candidate to operate a vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
