HCT is seeking an experienced nursing leader to serve as an Inpatient Nursing Manager for a respected acute care health system in Northern California.

The Inpatient Nursing Manager will oversee daily clinical and operational functions of an inpatient nursing department in 350+ bed size facility, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while maintaining regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and staff engagement. This leader will partner closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to drive quality outcomes, process improvement initiatives, and strategic departmental goals.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Leading day-to-day inpatient nursing operations and ensuring high standards of patient care
  • Managing and developing nursing staff through coaching, performance management, recruitment, and retention efforts
  • Monitoring quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and patient satisfaction metrics
  • Driving process improvement and workflow optimization initiatives utilizing Lean principles and best practices
  • Developing and managing departmental budgets, productivity targets, and resource utilization
  • Collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary leaders to improve clinical and operational outcomes
  • Responding to patient, staff, and operational concerns while supporting service recovery efforts
  • Establishing departmental goals and implementing action plans to achieve strategic objectives
  • Ensuring compliance with Joint Commission, state, federal, and organizational standards

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certification required
  • Minimum of 8 years of recent nursing experience in an acute care or inpatient hospital setting
  • Fetal Monitoring and NRP
  • Progressive leadership experience managing clinical operations and nursing teams
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, quality improvement, and operational management
  • Demonstrated experience with staff development, budgeting, performance improvement, and change management
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading Lean or process improvement initiatives
  • Prior management experience within a complex acute care health system
  • Additional specialty certifications as applicable to clinical department assignment
