Job Description

Overview:

The Manager, Insurance Programs is responsible for supporting the development, administration, and ongoing management of insurance programs and risk management resources that serve YMCA of the USA (Y-USA). This position provides subject matter expertise and operational leadership for insurance-related initiatives, working closely with internal stakeholders, insurance providers, brokers, and other external partners to help ensure programs are responsive to the evolving needs of the YMCA Movement.

The Manager oversees the day-to-day administration and implementation of assigned insurance programs, supports the evaluation of coverage and program effectiveness, and develops resources and guidance to help Y-USA understand and manage organizational risk. The position serves as a key point of contact for insurance-related questions and program support and uses data, industry knowledge, and emerging trends to identify opportunities for program improvement.

Working in partnership with the Senior Vice President, Child Protection and Organizational Risk, the Manager contributes to strategies and initiatives that strengthen risk management practices, protect YMCA organizations and their communities, and support the long-term sustainability of the YMCA Movement.

This is a part-time role, not exceeding 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage Insurance Programs: Oversee the day-to-day administration, coordination, and implementation of assigned insurance programs and related services available to Y-USA.
  • Serve as an Insurance Program Resource: Serve as a primary resource for internal stakeholders regarding insurance programs, coverage considerations, program requirements, processes, and available resources. Respond to inquiries and facilitate connections with appropriate insurance, broker, or risk management partners when needed.
  • Manage External Partner Relationships: Develop and maintain effective working relationships with insurance carriers, brokers, consultants, vendors, and other external partners. Coordinate activities, address service or program issues, and support effective delivery of insurance-related services for Y-USA.
  • Support Program Strategy and Development: Partner with leadership and external insurance professionals to evaluate existing programs and identify opportunities for new or enhanced insurance solutions.
  • Monitor Insurance and Risk Trends: Stay informed of emerging insurance industry developments, coverage trends, regulatory considerations, claims trends, and organizational risks that may affect Y-USA. Communicate with relevant developments and recommend appropriate actions or resources.
  • Analyze Program Data and Performance: Monitor participation, utilization, claims information, service levels, and other available program data to evaluate effectiveness, identify trends, and support informed decision-making. Prepare reports, summaries, and recommendations for leadership as needed.
  • Support Renewals and Program Reviews: Coordinate and support insurance program renewals, coverage reviews, market evaluations, and other periodic program activities in collaboration with brokers, carriers, consultants, and Y-USA leadership.
  • Develop Resources and Communications: Create and maintain insurance-related guidance, tools, educational materials, communications, FAQs, and other resources that help Y-USA understand available programs and strengthen their risk management practices.
  • Provide Education and Technical Assistance: Support webinars, meetings, presentations, trainings, and other educational opportunities related to insurance programs and organizational risk. Translate complex insurance concepts into clear, practical information for Y-USA leaders and staff.
  • Ensure Program Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate program records, agreements, policies, procedures, and other documentation and support adherence to applicable contractual, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve insurance program processes, communications, and technology.
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned: Support additional projects, initiatives, and responsibilities related to insurance, child protection, organizational risk, and the work of the Y-USA team as needed.
Qualifications:

A successful candidate will possess a majority of the following professional and personal attributes and competencies:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required in a relevant field such as Business, or related disciplines required.
  • 4-8 years of experience required
  • Advanced functional skills
  • Intermediate industry knowledge and experience
  • Entry to intermediate managerial skills

Benefits:

Pay: $42.56 per hour

Posted Salary Range: USD $42.56 - USD $51.28 /Hr.
