The Manager, Internal Audit plays a key role in providing independent assurance over financial reporting, internal controls, governance, and risk management. The role has primary responsibility for managing and executing the Company's Sarbanes?Oxley (SOX) Section 404 compliance program, operational audits, and providing controls related guidance for projects. This position regularly interacts with senior management and external auditors.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) is required. Minimum 5 years of total experience (1+ in a supervisory role) in internal audit, external audit, or SOX compliance, with public company experience is needed. Demonstrated expertise in SOX 404 Internal Controls over Financial Reporting testing within a public company environment is required. IT General Controls testing experience is preferred. Experience within a public REIT or real estate organization is preferred. Strong knowledge of internal auditing standards, internal control frameworks, and regulatory compliance expectations is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with senior leadership, are required.
Summary of Responsibilities includes managing the SOX 404 compliance program, including participating in the annual scoping, risk assessment, walkthroughs, testing, and evaluation of internal controls over financial reporting. Identifying, assessing, and documenting control deficiencies, including severity evaluation. Monitoring and validating remediation plans and retesting controls to ensure timely resolution. Planning and executing risk-based operational audits across corporate functions. Conducting enterprise risk assessment activities and supporting the annual internal audit plan. Assessing compliance with company policies, REIT regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Acting as a liaison with external auditors, including coordination of SOX reliance, audit timing, and PBC requests. Supporting management's certification of internal controls and disclosure controls. Evaluating disclosure controls and procedures to ensure completeness and accuracy of public filings. Coordinating closely with Accounting teams on control implications of new accounting standards and transactions. Supervising and mentoring internal audit staff and/or co-sourced service providers. Reviewing workpapers and audit reports to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with professional standards. Driving continuous improvement in audit methodology, documentation, and use of data analytics.
At Kilroy, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within the role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,000 and $157,500 and your base pay will depend on your skills, experience and training, knowledge, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus as well.
