Job Description:

This position contributes to the Company's success by supporting a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and corporate policies. This position has a heavy emphasis on inventory accounting, accounts payable to our inventory-related suppliers and manufacturers, review of inventory balance sheet reconciliations, review of cost of goods sold calculations, monthly/quarterly/annual inventory closing activities, physical inventories, budgeting/forecasting/variance analyses related to inventory, financial statement audits, and Japanese SOX compliance. This position also supports technical accounting analyses as needed and serves as the main point of contact for internal and external auditors for inventory-related items.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
  • Abides by GAAP/IFRS standards, as applicable, and complies with the Company's internal control and accounting policies.
  • Timely performs inventory-related general ledger account reconciliations, accruals, costs of goods sold calculations, and other necessary adjustments of journal entries for month/quarter-end close.
  • Partners with Supply Chain to review and maintain inventory costing methodologies, including standard cost updates, inventory valuation analyses, and implementation of product cost changes.
  • Monitors landed cost components, including freight, duties, tariffs, and other supply chain costs, ensuring accurate accounting treatment and inventory valuation.
  • Perform activities related to annual physical inventory procedures, including reconciliation of book to physical variances.
  • Supports resolution of inventory-related supplier invoicing, pricing, and receipt discrepancies to ensure accurate inventory valuation and timely financial reporting.
  • Leads budgeting and forecasting for financial statement items related to inventory, including inventory balance sheet planning, costs of goods sold, and gross margin.
  • Performs monthly variance analyses for actual inventory balance sheet and income statement results against budget.
  • Monitors procedures to identify and suggest improvements/efficiencies in the accounting and closing processes related to inventory.
  • Participates in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies, including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
  • Participates in strategic financial projects, including upgrades to existing software and ERP systems.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for internal and external audit processes related to inventory.
  • Assists with Japanese SOX documentation and testing.
  • Supports assessment of external service providers, including evaluation of SOC reports.
  • Prepares technical accounting analyses as needed, including assessment of new accounting standards.
  • Assists Supply Chain department in review of invoices from our inventory and manufacturing suppliers, assisting in resolving any quantity or pricing discrepancies, and working with accounts payable for timely payment of invoices.
  • Engages in special projects and analyses, as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting; Master's Degree, a plus
  • Minimum of 5 yearsBBTEC
