Manager, IT Finance
We are seeking a high‑impact Manager, Technology Finance to serve as the accounting and financial governance authority for all technology investments across our $2B B2B distribution organization.
This newly created role is designed to strengthen accounting rigor, financial control, and transparency over a rapidly growing technology portfolio. The company is undertaking significant development and systems initiatives, and this role will own the end‑to‑end accounting, capitalization, and financial governance of IT operating spend, capital expenditures, capitalized labor, and technology project accounting within Oracle Cloud (including Oracle Projects).
Sitting at the intersection of Accounting, IT, and FP&A, this role requires deep technical accounting expertise combined with strong financial planning, investment evaluation, modeling, and process‑design capabilities. The successful candidate will define and enforce US GAAP‑compliant accounting treatment for technology spend, design scalable capitalization and project accounting processes, and lead the financial evaluation, prioritization, and ROI measurement of technology investments—while partnering closely with IT leadership, FP&A, and executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Financial Governance & Process Design (Build Mandate)
- Design and implement the enterprise financial governance framework for technology investments.
- Establish standardized processes for project intake, business case review, financial approval, and post-implementation ROI tracking.
- Build scalable tracking and reporting mechanisms for IT operating and capital spend.
- Develop policies and documentation standards for capitalization of internally developed software, cloud implementation costs, and capitalized labor.
- Implement stage-gate financial controls aligned with project lifecycle phases (preliminary, development, post-implementation).
- Ensure governance processes are scalable to support growth, system upgrades, and future acquisitions.
- Drive continuous improvement of IT financial processes as the technology portfolio evolves.
IT FP&A & Investment Analysis
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for all IT operating and capital expenditures.
- Develop detailed spend analytics across infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, ERP, and development initiatives.
- Evaluate ROI and total cost of ownership (TCO) for major technology investments.
- Partner with IT leadership to stress-test assumptions in business cases.
- Provide executive-level reporting and insights into technology investment performance.
- Identify cost optimization opportunities across the technology stack.
Capitalization & Technical Accounting Oversight
- Own accounting treatment for all IT-related spend in compliance with US GAAP.
- Lead governance of internally developed software capitalization and cloud computing arrangements.
- Establish and monitor capitalization policies within Oracle Cloud.
- Partner with Accounting to ensure accurate accruals, amortization, and financial reporting.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation supporting capitalized costs.
Oracle Cloud Projects Ownership
- Serve as the finance owner for technology-related project accounting within Oracle Cloud Projects.
- Ensure proper project setup, cost tracking, and alignment to capitalization eligibility.
- Design controls to ensure project phases are accurately classified for capitalization purposes.
- Improve visibility into project financial performance through reporting enhancements.
- Partner with IT and Finance systems teams to optimize Oracle Projects functionality and reporting outputs.
Capitalized Labor Governance
- Develop and implement methodology for tracking and capitalizing internal IT labor.
- Ensure clear documentation of development-phase activities and capitalization eligibility.
- Partner with IT leaders to align time tracking and project coding to accounting requirements.
- Monitor amortization schedules and financial statement impact.
- Proactively mitigate audit risk associated with internally developed software.
Vendor & Contract Financial Participation
- Participate in vendor negotiations to assess financial impact and contract structure.
- Evaluate licensing models, cloud consumption agreements, and long-term commitments.
- Analyze financial implications of SaaS vs. on-prem vs. hybrid solutions.
