SUMMARY

Leads engineering and quality activities across production and new product launches. This role is responsible for improving process capability, reducing defects, managing quality systems (IATF 16949:2016), supporting customer and supplier quality, and building a high-performing engineering team. The manager works cross-functionally with operations, engineering, supply chain, and leadership to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned relative to the growth of our company.
  • Lead manufacturing and quality engineers by setting priorities, coaching staff, managing performance, and building technical capability.
  • Drive process and product quality through PFMEA, control plans, SPC, root cause analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support new product launches with APQP, PPAP, launch readiness reviews, process validation, and risk assessment.
  • Own quality systems and compliance by maintaining documentation, procedures, audits, corrective actions, and alignment with standards such as IATF 16949:2016 and customer specific requirements.
  • Improve manufacturing performance by reducing scrap, rework, warranty issues, and variation while increasing yield and process stability.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams including production, design, maintenance, supply chain, and customer-facing teams to resolve quality and manufacturing issues. Work directly with development teams and executive leadership of our organization.
  • Handle customer and supplier quality concerns through issue escalation, containment, investigation, corrective action, and communication.
  • Use data to make decisions by analyzing trends in defects, complaints, process capability, and inspection results.
  • Manage capital and process improvements including tooling, fixtures, gages, equipment, and manufacturing methods. Manage current and future capital expenditures with Business Development for customer request for quote. (RFQ)
  • Promote safety and operational discipline while ensuring procedures are followed and workplace standards are maintained.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 8-12 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational chart, company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality engineering, and process engineering.
  • Prior leadership or people management experience with professional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans
    • SPC, CAPA, RCA, 8D
    • GD&T, DOE, MSA, Cpk
    • Lean, Six Sigma, 5S
    • Quality standards such as IATF 16949:2016, and customer specific systems.
  • Experience with new product launch, audits, and process continuous improvement as a Tier #1 Automotive supplier
  • EV battery experience or knowledge preferred
  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES) knowledge
  • Maintaining Bill of Materials updates with ECI process
  • Generate reports and suitable materials for customer review and executive leadership team
