Job Description

Manager — MEL Program Office

Denver, CO
Salary range:$100,104–$132,870

Lead the programs behind safe, compliant aircraft dispatch
As Manager — MEL Program Office, you’ll lead Frontier’s Minimum Equipment List (MEL) program and related Configuration Deviation List (CDL), Non-Essential Equipment and Furnishings (NEF) and Time Deferred Items (TDI) programs.

You’ll manage the creation, maintenance and revision of these programs and associated manuals, ensuring they remain aligned with FAA requirements, manufacturer documentation, Frontier policies and operational needs.

This role serves as a central technical and regulatory resource for MEL-related issues, working across Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, the FAA and industry partners to resolve questions, maintain program currency and support safe aircraft operations.

Leadership scope
This role leads the MEL Capture Coordinator function and operates with general direction, typically receiving limited day-to-day instruction and broader guidance on new assignments.

What to expect
This role is primarily based in an office environment but may require some weekends, nights, holidays and on-call availability, as well as occasional response on short notice.

Why this role matters
MEL and related programs help define when and how an aircraft may continue operating with certain equipment temporarily inoperative. Accurate, current and well-managed program documentation is critical to maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting operational decision-making and preserving an acceptable level of safety across Frontier’s fleet.

What you’ll lead

Own the MEL and related programs

  • Manage the creation and maintenance of Frontier’s MEL, MEL Management Manuals, CDL, NEF and TDI program materials.
  • Develop and administer program specifications, limitations, placards, maintenance procedures, crew operating procedures and other applicable restrictions.
  • Manage and prioritize internal MEL and CDL revisions.
  • Review Master MEL changes and determine required updates to Frontier’s MEL, CDL and NEF programs.
  • Coordinate publication of MEL, CDL, NEF and related manuals.

Manage regulatory compliance and approvals

  • Ensure program changes meet applicable regulatory requirements and align with Frontier standards and policies.
  • Coordinate revision requests and support timely FAA approval.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with the FAA on MEL, CDL, NEF and TDI matters.
  • Schedule and facilitate FAA meetings related to program revisions, temporary revisions and regulatory issues.
  • Provide corrective actions for deficiencies identified by the FAA or internal investigations.
  • Coordinate with applicable industry and regulatory partners on MMEL proposals and program matters.

Resolve technical and operational issues

  • Serve as a central resource for MEL, CDL, NEF and TDI manual questions.
  • Resolve MEL dispatch considerations when interpretation or clarification is required.
  • Ensure program requirements interface appropriately with Maintenance and Operations functions, Aircraft Flight Manual limitations, emergency procedures and Airworthiness Directives.
  • Support Maintenance Control with required FMIS task entries and updates.
  • Coordinate with Frontier Supplemental Type Certificate partners to maintain program currency.

Lead program coordination and communication

  • Lead MEL Capture Coordinator personnel in monitoring, reporting and coordinating actions needed to restore aircraft to type design.
  • Provide technical, operational and policy support to Frontier’s MEL Steering Committee.
  • Facilitate quarterly and ad hoc MEL Steering Committee meetings, including scheduling, preparation and meeting documentation.
  • Develop program communications, including summaries of changes and revision notices.
  • Represent Frontier in applicable industry activities related to MMEL programs.

Support safety and program readiness

  • Identify and report safety concerns, incidents and hazards through appropriate Frontier reporting channels.
  • Support Frontier’s Safety Management System and applicable safety-accountability requirements.
  • Maintain required training and qualifications for assigned responsibilities.
  • Stay current on applicable company policies, procedures, regulations and risk controls.

What you’ll bring

Required

  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least seven years of airline or transport-category aircraft experience.
  • At least five years of Airbus aircraft experience.
  • At least five years of experience working with MEL manuals in support of aircraft operations.
  • At least five years of aircraft maintenance-program or technical-writing experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Capacity to work independently in a highly accountable environment.
  • Availability for occasional overnight travel, approximately 10%.
  • Ability to meet applicable background-check and pre-employment testing requirements.
