Summary:
Shares as a team member under the leadership and in collaboration with the Director, the accountability for the 24 hour management of clinical nursing practice and patient care delivery, the management of human, fiscal and other resources, the development of personnel, compliance and regulatory and professional standards, strategic planning and the fostering of interdisciplinary collaborative relationships within selected unit(s) of responsibility and the health care institution as a whole.
Responsibilities:
Education
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
Current New York State RN License
Baccalaureate in Nursing required
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification or completion of course within six (6) months of assignment
Professional Certification within three (3) years of assignment (CCRN, PCCN, NE-BC, CNML)
Experience
Five (5) years RN Experience required
Two (2) years Critical Care Experience required
Three (3) years previous supervisory experience required
Cardiac Care experience preferred
Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with all levels of unit personnel, as well as physicians, families, visitors and to manage the activities of a diverse group of professional, nonprofessional and clerical employees
Strong communication skills both verbal and written
Good interpersonal skills

Planning skills to develop goals and objectives
Analytical ability to identify opportunities for improvements
Strong problem resolution skills
Teaching abilities to promote optimum orientation and continuing education of staff
Budgeting skills to control fiscal operations of selected unit(s) and /or area(s) of responsibility and to identify and explain variances
Has current knowledge of health care trends and issues and relates same to hospital and work area environment
Computer literate
