Job Summary
Responsible for managing the implementation, achievement and ongoing success of the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet and Pathways designations. This position supports clinical excellence by providing operational oversight through monitoring and evaluation of systems, patient and workforce outcomes, processes, and culture.
This position assures alignment and standardization of system processes and reporting of nursing quality and applicable operational metrics. The position collaborates with Memorial Hermann Institute for Nursing Excellence (INE), staff, leaders, and providers at the facility and system levels to create, innovate, advance, and sustain Magnet and Pathways designations.
Typically reports to the hospital Chief Nursing Officer or if at the Texas Medical Center (TMC), to the Director of Nursing and Clinical Excellence- TMC. This position also has matrix reporting to the Director, System Nursing and Clinical Excellence
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelors of Science in Nursing, required
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Five (5) years of healthcare experience working in a clinical setting required
- Experience required in change management, project management, and evidence based practice, quality improvement, data analytics, or research
- Management experience preferred
- Knowledge of related regulatory, accreditation, and designation requirements
- Planning and organizational skills
- Effective presentation, mentorship, and coaching skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective computer skills (Microsoft Office and other relevant programs)
Principal Accountabilities
- Guides facility nurse leaders in identifying nursing quality indicators, developmental needs, performance improvement, research initiatives and other activities that sustain and advance a culture of excellence.
- Responsible for budget development and oversight, staff supervision, and operational goals under direction of system leadership.
- Responsible for the operations, growth and sustainability of professional governance and clinical excellence processes that are designed to support nurses and other disciplines in alignment with hospital and health system strategic initiatives.
- In collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer, cultivates a professional practice environment, by coordinating the clinical excellence processes, assisting with document preparation, maintaining related databases, and supporting professional development across the enterprise.
- Maintains expertise related to national Magnet Recognition Program standards and requirements and ensures Memorial Hermann's compliance.
- Provides oversight and direction regarding reporting requirements and monitoring metrics against strategic national standards.
- Serves as an ambassador of the Magnet program employing a variety of communication strategies, systems and processes and as a point of contact for their assigned facility with the Magnet program office.
- Develops and coordinates the communication, planning, implementation, and monitoring related to designated projects and programs.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals that contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
