Job Summary:
The Manager of Planning & Facilities for the School of Medicine (School) at CU Anschutz will be assigned projects on the CU Anschutz campus, acting as a resource and subject matter expert for all departments, divisions, sections, Centers, and Programs within the School of Medicine.
The Manager is typically assigned a project at conception and will manage coordination of the project through all phases of planning, design, construction, close-out, and occupancy. Project management may be executed independently or in collaboration with the Facilities Management team(s). The Manager may manage several projects at various stages of the project life-cycle depending on project type, volume, and needs.
Throughout the course of a project, the Manager will work with internal University clients, departments, stakeholders, Facilities Building Maintenance and Operations, and University Service Providers, such as the Office of Institutional Planning, EH&S, Office of Information Technology, University Police, Electronic Security, and Grants and Contracts, as appropriate.
The position will develop strong internal relationships with CU Anschutz Facilities Management departments, including Projects, Construction Services, and Fire and Life Safety, and strong external relationships with architectural and engineering firms, consultants, and contractors. This position will have opportunities to serve on project oversight committees, design team and contractor selection committees, and internal department committees.
This position will also assist with special projects related to large renovation and construction projects, space utilization, and efficiency. In conjunction with the SOM Director of Facilities and Planning and the Senior Director for the Office of Research, this position will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the budget for the Office of Research.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning, Projects, and Space Management (40%)
Provide project oversight and management for SOM Dean's Office-managed or funded projects, including attending meetings, reviewing drawings, participating in consultant selection committees, and budget review.
Design and manage small project renovations and test fits, monitor schedules, and manage contractors or consultants as necessary to deliver project(s) on time.
Create graphic documents and floor plans in programs like Photoshop, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.
Assist with space utilization projects including managing data, compiling data, and strategic planning based on findings.
Act as badging and access approver for the SOM Dean's Office.
Approve and track key requests for the SOM Dean's Office.
Manage planning, design, construction, and close-out phases of assigned projects.
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
Review project scopes, drawings, budgets, and schedules.
Support space request and reassignment processes.
Strategic Planning and Reporting (30%)
Support strategic space and facilities planning through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Collaborate with SOM units, programs, and centers to collect, update, and review data in campus space tracking programs like WebSpace and Archibus, annually and in real time.
Act as a SOM point of contact and liaison for all SOM reservable spaces in EMS for the Office of Information Technology Scheduling Services team.
Assist with space utilization metrics and reporting processes.
Cross-Functional Engagement and Operations (20%)
Act as a subject matter expert and resource for School of Medicine units related to projects and planning, Work Order processes, design and construction resources, move coordination, and furniture procurement processes.
Act as a subject matter expert and resource for School of Medicine units related to facilities and maintenance, including custodial services and security/access.
Coordinate moves, furniture procurement, and workspace setup.
Act as liaison with campus service providers.
Financial and Administrative Support (10%)
Oversee the review and approval process (when needed) for all School of Medicine Work Order requests for scope, standards, and fiscal responsibility.
Negotiate costs of services with facilities, consultants, contractors, and/or suppliers.
Assist with budget tracking and project costs.
Support procurement and contract coordination.
Work Location:
Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of three (3) days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in business, architecture or engineering, management, project management, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Three to five (3-5) years of professional and progressive facilities planning, space management, or facilities operations experience.
Two (2) years of supervisory experience required, with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five or more (5+) years of progressive facilities planning, space management, or facilities operations experience.
Experience working with floor plans, space planning, and AutoCAD.
Experience in an academic medical center, healthcare, research, or higher education environment preferred.
Experience developing budgets and managing project finances.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $82,867 to $111,041.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
