Position Summary

The Manager of Rehab access has responsibility for developing, directing and coordinating staff and operations related to clinical therapy delivery, compliance, admission and discharge aspects of the Inpatient rehabilitation facility and the outpatient therapy services, which are budgeted across multiple departments at LBMC, according to the policies and procedures and standard work that guides the operational and clinical issues for high quality, cost effective case management processes related to:

  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility: access criteria, authorizations, patient placement, coordinating provision of therapy services, patient discharge flow, as well as maximizing reimbursement via CMG and IRF-PAI coding/documentation and improvement.

  • Outpatient Rehabilitation Services: access, authorizations, registration, scheduling, provision of therapy services, billing and appeals.

  • Rehabilitation Business Initiatives: promotes Rehabilitation Services referral business interests by developing and implementing plans that improves community awareness and facilitates increased business opportunities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Provides leadership for quality and continuous improvement for redesign of the healthcare delivery structure to position the organization to be a leader in Rehabilitation Services. Develops, plans, and supports strategy for Rehabilitation Services.

  • Supervises, coordinates, and manages the day-to-day operations of the departments and Rehabilitation Services Access staff budgeted across multiple six-digit departments in multiple/dispirit locations. The Manager has expertise in systems/standards development, IS systems used within the departments, regulatory requirements and a broad vision of the future of the health care industry.

  • Identifies new areas of business expansion and innovation to increase patient base. Develops and implements a comprehensive plan that improves community awareness and facilitates increased business opportunities. At all times considers how Rehabilitation Services communications strategies may promote the quality vision of the hospital and enhance its reputation within the community.

  • Overall responsibility to plan, organize, coordinate, direct, manage and evaluate people, activities, and processes and operations to assure adherence, compliance, quality, cost effectiveness, and continuous improvement with patient/family centered care for:

Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility:

  • Clinical Admissions: Responsible for administrative policy, patient and family acceptance processes, letters of agreement.

  • PPS Coordination: Medicare reimbursement oversight related to Rehabilitation Services. Submissions and Monitoring IRF updates:

  • Provision of therapy services: Ensuring adequate staffing, and therapy specific processes, to ensure high quality therapy services are provided

Outpatient Rehabilitation Services:

  • Develop and resign registration, eligibility requirements.

  • Provides leadership in continuing standards in EPIC work flows and system billing and scheduling.

  • Provision of therapy services: Ensuring adequate staffing, and therapy specific processes, to ensure high quality therapy services are provided

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years' inpatient rehabilitation facility care coordination, compliance, discharge and/or clinical admissions experience or minimum 5 years' acute rehabilitation experience preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years'' leadership experience managing one or more business units or major function including budgets, people and operations preferred.

  • Minimum 1 year experience in lean management systems and methods preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in healthcare field or social services required.

  • Reliable transportation and valid California driver's license required.
