    Job Summary and Qualifications

    As Social Services manager has primary oversight of the ED Social Work supervisor and staff in their job duties as they provide direct care to a defined population in the Emergency Department. Oversees the provision of clinical assessment, intervention, social, emotional, and environmental care provided to ED patients by Social Work. Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction. Provides oversight to the planning and implementation of social work policies and procedures and maintenance of on-call staff schedule. 

    • You will provide supervisory assistance for social services 
    • You will hire, train and conduct orientation of Full-time, Part time and PRN staff. 
    • You will provide supervision and evaluation of Social Work Full-time, Part time and PRN staff. 
    • You will coordinate monthly on-call schedule for coverage of afterhours Social Services. Facilitate monthly PRN meetings, trainings, work schedules, completion of required meetings/in services. Provide 24/7 on call support to staff to help address questions, staff cases and process appropriate dispositions. 
    • You will coordinate supervisory requirements of LCSW applicants and graduate social work student as needed. 
    • You will assist and advise the executive and leadership team with issues impacting hospital social work. 
    • You will regularly consult HR Generalist to address hiring and termination questions, issues pertaining to the Standards of Conduct and Employee Discipline and other matters as needed. 
    • You will facilitate in service and training within the department as needed to adequately and thoroughly address new resources/services or process/ procedures. 
    • You will perform complex discharge planning facilitation for designated patient Population. Provide patient/family counseling, discharge planning, community resource/long range planning and crisis intervention by referral 
    • You will evaluate psychosocial needs of patients/families 
    • You will coordinate reporting and standards of practice review for social work services. 
    • You will review and revise social work policies and procedures in accordance with hospital and regulatory agency standards annually and as indicated 
    • You will monitor and coordinate CQI/QA reporting to director and other hospital committees as required. 
    • You will review SDSAMC High Alert Patient case requests with HAP SW Manager of SDMC. 
    • You will attend Travis County Community Behavioral Health Monthly meeting. 

    What qualifications you will need: 

    • Minimum 5 years of active social work experience, including 3 years in a health care facility. 
    • Master’s Degree in Social Work required 
    • Current licensure by the Texas state board at the LMSW level required upon hire
