Posting Summary:

Teachers College, Columbia University seeks an experienced professional to serve as a strategic and operational partner within the Office of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, this position manages the daily operations of the Office of the Vice President while supporting executive communications, strategic initiatives, Board activities, donor engagement, and high-level institutional priorities.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional organizational, communication, and project management skills, demonstrate sound judgment and discretion, and thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. This role serves as a key liaison with trustees, donors, alumni, faculty, College leadership, and external partners, helping advance the mission and strategic priorities of Teachers College through effective executive support and operational excellence.

Job Summary/Basic Function:

Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Manager serves as the Vice President''s primary operational and strategic support partner, managing the daily activities and workflow of the Office of the Vice President. The role encompasses responsibility for executive office operations, executive communications, stakeholder engagement, Board of Trustees support, strategic initiatives, and special projects.

The Manager, Office of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement will perform a complex variety of administrative, operational and project coordination duties. Work performed may include (but is not limited to) the following:

Executive Office Operations

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Office of the Vice President.
  • Manage the Vice President''s calendar, travel, and meetings.
  • Coordinate executive priorities and follow-up.
  • Manage office financial operations, expenses, reimbursements, purchasing and invoices.
  • Develop office procedures.
  • Prepare agendas and action items.
  • Exercise independent judgment.

Executive Communications

  • Manage the flow of information into and out of the Office.
  • Draft correspondence, donor proposals, presentations, speeches, reports and briefing materials.
  • Prepare executive summaries and research.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of communications.
  • Coordinate communications across Institutional Advancement.

Executive Relationships & Engagement

  • Support engagement with trustees, donors, alumni, volunteers, faculty, leadership and external partners.
  • Coordinate Board meetings, donor visits and executive events.
  • Build relationships across the College.
  • Serve as a primary liaison for the Office of the Vice President.

Strategic Projects & Executive Initiatives

  • Lead strategic projects from concept through implementation.
  • Develop project plans and monitor execution.
  • Conduct research and prepare recommendations.
  • Represent the Office on committees.
  • Recommend operational improvements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor''s degree required.
  • Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience supporting senior executives or managing executive office operations.
  • Development, institutional advancement, or related fundraising experience required.
  • Executive communications and strategic project management experience.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Higher education experience preferred.
  • Master''s degree preferred.
  • Experience supporting a Vice President, President or Dean.
  • Experience with donor proposals, board materials and executive communications.
  • Experience with advancement CRM systems and Board coordination.

Salary Range:

$90,000-100,000
