    Requirements
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • A minimum of one year of experience in a corrections or correctional setting.
    • Must be age 21 or older. Must possess auto liability insurance. 
    • Must pass background screening process, including a drug screen.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Six months' experience working in the Youth Center
    Special Working Conditions and/or Hazards:
    • Employees work indoors and are protected from weather conditions or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes.
    • Secure correctional facility, with some exposure to unruly and at times out of control resident populations.
    Job Duties:
    • Physically inspects all departments for safety, security and operational procedural effectiveness.
    • Interacts with staff and residents to assess departmental issues and staffing requirements.
    • Responds to youth issues and concerns.
    • Responds to, assesses, and manages critical incidents arising during assigned tour of duty.
    • Incidents include, but are not limited to, youth suicide attempts, assaults, medical emergencies, security breaches or allegations of youth or staff misconduct.
    • Coordinates with the Unit Managers and Floor Managers to provide quality assurance for minimum operational staffing requirements and scheduling staff breaks. 
    • Provides for the redeployment of staff for resident transportation and/or behavior management requirements.
    • Works directly with Unit Managers and Floor Manager to assess staffing for safety, security and cost effectiveness. 
    • Plans and arranges for staffing as needed with the Unit Managers and Floor Managers for future vacancies and special staffing requirements.
    • Provides direction, clarification and guidance to staff regarding facility policy, procedure and practice. 
    • Provides written/verbal communication to department supervisors/managers concerning staff, management and departmental issues. 
    • Performs programming function as needed or assigned.
    • Provides formal documentation of critical incidents, including investigations, analysis, reports and administrative notifications.
    • Responds in person to issues/concerns of the public, parents, and law enforcement/agency personnel as needed.
    • Provides bi-weekly reports to chain of command covering facility activities during shifts worked.
    • Other duties as administratively assigned.
    • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
    Summary of KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES required for the position:
    • Must possess clerical/administrative skills/abilities, which include: Effective keyboarding and computer skills. Must be able to complete and file legal documents according to Juvenile Court and Youth Center procedures.
    • Must possess computer/technical skills/abilities, which include: Knowledge of and the ability to use "RCATS" database maintained by the Youth Center and familiarity with JCMS.
    • Must possess project/process management skills/abilities, which include: Respond to, assess and manage critical incidents arising during assigned tour of duty. Incidents include, but are not limited to youth suicide attempts, assaults, medical emergencies, security breaches or allegations of youth or staff misconduct, including being able to assess and prioritize departmental needs and work independently, work effectively within time restrictions, and be detail oriented, well organized and able to plan for and coordinate a variety of tasks.
    • Must possess written and oral communication skills/abilities, which include: Highly developed communication skills, ability to effectively communicate from both a written and oral standpoint, including being able to use crisis intervention counseling skills to resolve situations (i.e. verbal altercations between residents), maintain confidentiality of employee situations and residents' healthcare issues, good judgment and tact to communicate effectively with residents, families, co-workers, the public and line staff under functional supervision.
    • Must possess physical skills/abilities, including: Being able to open, shut and lock doors of the Youth Center; Must be active and ambulatory to respond to need for supervision, monitoring and behavior management (i.e. responding to a fight between residents); physically participate in training and use approved physical intervention techniques when necessary; Must be able to physically activate room monitoring panel and buttons.
    • Must possess other knowledge skills/abilities, which include: Extensive knowledge of Hamilton County Juvenile Court, Youth Center and community agencies; Ability to successfully demonstrate and complete all Youth Center core competency training.
