Under direction, provides leadership and supervision of the overall operation of a recreation facility and general park grounds surrounding the facility in the absence of regular staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Complies with and enforces City, department, and facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Responsible for general security of the facility, including communications with local law enforcement agencies as needed.
Provides quality customer service. Provides facility promotion and positive public relations through interactions with facility patrons. Responds to customer issues and concerns in a timely matter. Reviews circumstances and takes appropriate action.
Coordinates and assists staff to maximize the efficiency and quality of their work.
Ensures all possible safety measures are observed. Completes daily maintenance/safety check of equipment which may include checking chemicals in the spray ground.
Responds to emergency situations as required. Performs lifesaving procedures as necessary. Maintains accurate accident and incident reports.
Securely opens and/or closes the facility.
Responsible for all monies/tokens collected at the facility and ensuring the monies/tokens are handled according to City policy. Responsible for preparing the monies/receipts for deposit and ensure they are secured at the end of the shift.
Assists and oversees point of sale responsibilities. Performs duties relating to registration and collection of fees for participants in all activities.
Provides program set-up and tear-down as scheduled.
Performs basic maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming if building usage warrants it, and custodial staff is unavailable.
Performs routine office duties including using RecTrac, typing, answering phones, copying materials, and all other related tasks. May be required to maintain accurate daily attendance and revenue reports.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years of age. Two years' or three seasons of related experience required. Six months' previous supervisory or lead experience required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certificate, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
May need the ability to travel to various locations in a timely manner as the job requires.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the City of Thornton, the department, and the facility.
Knowledge of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid.
Knowledge of basic recreation philosophy.
Knowledge of simple bookkeeping.
Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
Skill in the safe and accurate operation of front desk.
Skill in maintaining a variety of records.
Skill in performing lifesaving and first aid activities.
Skill in performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Ability to react quickly and accurately in emergency situations.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and/or flexible schedule.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply operating policies and procedures.
Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, RecTrac, data base management, spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.
Ability to enter and retain data on revenue and attendance records.
Ability to listen well and communicate effectively orally and in writing with various audiences.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public.
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Ability to work around chemicals as needed.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, sit, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and be make repetitive motions. This position is considered "medium work": Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The employee must demonstrate the ability to remain calm during routine and stressful conditions. The employee is occasionally required to push or drag objects or equipment, and occasionally required to work outdoors.
