JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Manages the gas distribution functions for a specific service area. Responsible for operation and maintenance of the underground distribution system, customer service, and accounting activities to ensure dependable gas service is supplied to all customers. Represents the company in the community, maintains effective customer relations, and provides a high-profile presence with active community involvement. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor operations and accounting activities to ensure consistent compliance with regulatory requirements and tariffs, operating standards, company policies, guidelines, and processes
  • Ability to gauge and satisfy customer expectations when making business decisions

  • Cultivate relationships with business leaders, elected officials, community contacts, and appointed regulatory staff members to achieve business results
  • Investigate fire and explosion sites to evaluate the extent of company liability and protect against possible fraudulent property damage claims
  • Make speeches and presentations to elected officials, community groups, and employees  
  •  Able to operate a personal computer, either a desktop or laptop. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in business administration, marketing, engineering, or related field [QC1] 
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of experience in one of the following: gas operations, accounting, engineering, or related field. 
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience[QC2]  in one of the following: gas operations, accounting, engineering, or related field, including a minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of computers and related technology
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to provide a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record as determined by the company
  • Ability to receive and interpret directives and complete tasks
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Ability to testify in regulatory proceedings on matters related to operations
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities

Physical Requirements

  • Able to sit for extended periods of time. 
  • Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment. 
  • Able to exert up to 10 lb of force occasionally and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or move objects.

  • Able to work in fast paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines. 
  • Able to work in a normal office environment with occasional travel to off-site locations and stay overnight as required. 
  • Able to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aid in restoration efforts. 
  • Able to work more than 40 hours per week as required to meet established deadlines and accomplish objectives. 
  • Work is predominately done while standing or sitting.
