Summary

The Operations Manager plays a crucial leadership role in our organization and reports directly to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective operation of Venture Global's production units through daily operations and maintenance activities. This role demands collaboration with other supervisors, managers, and directors within the Operations and Maintenance departments to optimize LNG production at the facility.

General Description Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Operations in executing strategic objectives and managing various operations programs and initiatives to achieve the organization's goals.

  • Assist superintendents with tactical activities, including operational and personnel management tasks as well as other functions as directed.

  • Foster collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, including staff, community partners, and funding agencies.

  • Develop and implement processes and structures in alignment with the evolving operations framework.

  • Promote and drive a strong safety culture across the team, ensuring operational ownership, accountability, and discipline.

  • Formulate policies, set departmental objectives, and evaluate program outcomes.

  • Lead special projects and facilitate staff development initiatives.

  • Represent the organization at community events and meetings.

  • Operational efficiency: Overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the LNG process, from natural gas intake to LNG loading and shipping.

  • Ensuring adherence to strict safety protocols and regulations, including process safety and emergency response procedures. Heavily involved in the management of programs including car seals, bypasses and management of change. Provides leadership in emergency situations as required.

  • Managing and mentoring a team of process operators, technicians, and other personnel, providing guidance and support to ensure effective performance.

  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall plant performance. Ensures monthly and annual operating plans, as defined by operational KPIs are achieved by the team.

  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards, maintaining accurate records, and preparing reports as required.

  • Supporting the development of and managing the operational budget for the LNG plant, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control.

  • Quickly identifying and resolving operational issues, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.

  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including management, regulatory agencies, and customers.

  • Manage operational continuity and minimize downtime during periods of planned and unplanned maintenance activities.

Required experience

  • Extensive experience in LNG or other petrochemical operations, with a strong understanding of process control, safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience in operations of CCGTs, preferably with GE 7EA and A200 STG configurations.  Additional CC configurations and Air-Cooled Condensers (ACCs) experience also a plus. Commissioning, startup and operations in oil & gas, petrochemical, or independent power producer (IPP) facility along with internal electrical distribution systems.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical, mechanical, or related field) and five (5)+ years industry related operations experience or ten (10)+ years industry related operations experience.

Licensing & Certifications

  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.

  • Job is performed in an industrial plant environment.

  • Limited travel and temporary assignment required as business conditions dictate.

  • Subject to drug & alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Venture Global LNG.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, smell, type and write.

  • Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighting up to 30 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors & outdoors, and be exposed to year-round weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise. There are a considerable number of outdoor activities involved.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities.

  • Required to obtain mandated certification by attending company-sponsored training in basic first aid, CPR, AED & LNG firefighting.
