Position Summary Single or multi-department management of operations. Manages day to day operations. Directs, supervises, orients/trains and evaluates staff. Enforces policies, procedures and standards of operation. Position may have budgetary or fiscal accountability. Renders individualized comprehensive nursing care, based on nursing process, to meet the patient's physical, psychological, spiritual, social and educational needs. Manages the staff to meet designated goals. Position is responsible for approving timekeeping, employee evaluation, meeting applicable regulatory standards, approving supply orders and department strategic planning. Patient Care: Provides patient care according to designated standards and practices. Assists in ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the appropriateness and effectiveness of patient care. Establishes a mechanism to track customer service performance and takes corrective action to address any issues. Management: Participates in the development of annual budgets that reflect appropriate expenditures for personnel, supplies, and equipment. Manages to budget; monitors variances between budgeted and actual expense reports and takes action to correct negative variances within appropriate time lines. Assists with Kronos/payroll to assure accurate data entry. Participates in the interview, selection, and orientation process for new team members in collaboration with nursing management, RN staff, and other team members. Completes appropriate reports and institutes appropriate measures in the event of an unusual occurrence, e.g. patient fall, medication error, etc. Responsible for the containment of department costs and conservation of supplies, equipment, and linen. Acts and intervenes with ethical issues including clinical concerns, sexual and harassment issues, and physician/nurse relations. Maintains confidentiality in all department-related issues. Evaluates the department/service's performance against specified targets and takes appropriate actions. Participates in committees Maintains a state of continued survey readiness. Provides leadership for continued survey readiness team. Employee Management: Responsible for day-to-day staffing and making appropriate decisions based on patient needs and skill level of caregiver. Responsible for developing the staffing schedule and posting it within established timeframe guidelines. Guides staff in the advancement of their education and leadership skills, particularly team building, conflict resolution, and delegation. Schedules days to day activities i.e. breaks, sending people home, etc. Coordinates and participates in assuring completion of the orientation competency checklist for new hires and annual competencies for all employees. Manages employee performance by participating in evaluation process and coaching. Assists the Director with special projects as delegated. Conducts staff meetings as needed. Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned Minimum Requirements: Education: Nursing Degree from an Accredited Nursing School or Bachelor Degree in Nursing. In Cardiovascular: minimum of three to five years of Cardiovascular experience, to bedside care of Open heart patients. In 2 EQ Nursery: minimum of three years Special Care (Level 2 EQ) Nursery experience including ventilators. Experience: Three years relevant clinical nursing experience. Licensure/Certifications: Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Arizona. CPR required. ACLS as applicable by Facilty/by Department, PALS/NRP are required for certain clinical areas. Special Skills: Must be able to work under deadlines. Must be able to utilize independent decision making skills in a wide variety of situations. Requires a high degree of accuracy in the performance of varied responsibilities. Personal computer skills required. Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers. Must be self-motivated to complete work in a timely manner to meet deadlines. Preferred Requirements: Education: Master Degree. Experience: Two years management/supervisory experience Licensure/Certification: CCRN or PCCN for PCU/Tele/Stepdown,CCRN for ICU/CVICU, CEN for ER, CAPA/CPAN or CNOR for Surgical Services, Maternal/Family Health Cert for WIS, RN-BC for Med-Surg, CRRN for Rehabilitation.
