Description

Payroll Manager

Location: Columbia MD - Hybrid

Salary Information: 75,000 - 80,000 + Bonus

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the overall successful operation of the assigned payroll function(s), the successful completion of weekly payroll, timely submission of payroll reports, etc. The Manager resolves payroll issues and problems and supervises Payroll staff members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages Payroll staff
  • Ensures timely and accurate preparation and administration of payroll operations
  • Interprets employment policies, government regulations, and federal and state taxing authorities in connection with payroll activities, and makes recommendations to senior management as appropriate
  • Maintains payroll records, reports, computations, and audits
  • Interfaces routinely with HRIS on developing payroll applications that ensure internal controls, and facilitates the implementation and maintenance of payroll and HR master files
  • Provides periodic analysis of payroll records to ensure that adjustments are in compliance with company, state, and federal criteria
  • Provides leadership to team
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, HR, or related field, and at least five (5) years of payroll supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of various payroll software systems, preferably ADP
  • CPP preferred
  • Computer proficiency, including experience in Microsoft Office, required
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience as an accomplished leader in a payroll department
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills required; proficiency in the English language may be required
