ChristianaCare is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager, Perioperative Supply Chain to provide leadership and operational oversight for supply chain activities supporting Surgical Services. This role serves as a critical liaison between Supply Chain Operations, surgeons, clinicians, nursing leadership, and vendors to ensure the availability, effective utilization, and cost-efficient management of surgical supplies and implants across the health system.
The successful candidate will drive process improvement initiatives, inventory optimization, supply standardization efforts, value analysis activities, and operational excellence while supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Partnership
- Serve as a key member of both the Supply Chain and Surgical Services leadership teams.
- Partner with surgeons, clinicians, nursing leaders, and operational stakeholders to support supply availability, utilization, and cost management initiatives.
- Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve operational challenges that may impact surgical services and patient care.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives focused on process improvement, standardization, and operational efficiency.
Supply Chain Operations
- Oversee inventory management and logistics for all stock and non-stock items utilized within surgical areas.
- Manage supply standards, inventory levels, replenishment processes, and product utilization across perioperative departments.
- Collaborate with purchasing teams and vendors to resolve supply issues and maintain service levels.
- Monitor inventory performance indicators, including usage trends, safety stock, lead times, and fill rates.
- Ensure accurate material cost tracking and support appropriate charge capture processes.
Clinical & Vendor Collaboration
- Consult with physicians, nursing leadership, Clinical Engineering, and Purchasing regarding product selection, evaluation, and implementation.
- Coordinate the evaluation and introduction of new surgical supplies, implants, and medical devices.
- Collaborate with clinicians to identify acceptable product substitutions when necessary.
- Evaluate vendor performance and support contract compliance initiatives.
Technology & Systems Management
- Partner with Information Technology, Supply Chain Operations, and vendors to ensure system functionality and operational effectiveness.
- Lead or participate in ERP, MRP, and supply chain technology implementations, upgrades, and enhancements.
- Utilize data and analytics to support inventory management and operational decision-making.
Financial Management
- Assist in developing departmental operating and capital budgets.
- Support initiatives designed to reduce expenses and improve supply chain efficiency.
- Implement operational practices that support organizational financial goals.
- Analyze purchasing, utilization, and inventory data to identify savings opportunities.
Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain records of implants and medical devices using approved tracking systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to established safety standards and procedures.
Team Leadership
- Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management to perioperative supply support staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain Operations, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Experience supporting hospital operations, surgical services, or healthcare supply chain operations preferred.
- Experience leading process improvement initiatives or supply chain transformation projects preferred.
- Experience utilizing ERP and/or MRP systems preferred.
Hours: 8:00a - 4:30p
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and team management skills.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Knowledge of perioperative and surgical supply requirements.
- Ability to analyze inventory trends and develop inventory optimization strategies.

- Ability to build effective relationships with physicians, clinicians, vendors, and operational leaders.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Annual Compensation Range $123,614.40 - $197,766.40
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
