Manager, Production Control Operations - Crew B (2nd Shift)
The Manager of Production Control Operations (Crew B) is responsible for leading all shift-based material management activities within a high-volume manufacturing plant. This role ensures the efficient flow of materials from inbound delivery through production and into finished goods staging.
This leader plays a key role in achieving production targets by maintaining material availability, optimizing inventory, and supporting overall plant performance. The position partners closely with planning, engineering, logistics, and production teams to ensure seamless operations and successful vehicle builds.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily shift operations for material management, including scheduling, inventory control, kitting, lineside delivery, and service parts coordination
Manage and develop a team across material operations, third-party logistics (3PL), and service parts functions
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards across all material handling activities
Partner with planning, engineering, and logistics teams to align material flow with production schedules and takt time
Monitor and resolve material shortages, delays, and inventory discrepancies in real time to prevent production interruptions
Facilitate daily operational meetings and escalation processes to maintain build continuity and address issues quickly
Support incoming inspection, BOM accuracy, and engineering change implementation
Maintain accuracy and integration of WMS/ERP systems with shop-floor operations
Track and improve KPIs such as inventory accuracy, material availability, schedule adherence, and line stoppages
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including lean practices, 5S, and material flow optimization
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Background in automotive or manufacturing operations strongly preferred
Experience in production control, operations management, or supply chain execution
Working knowledge of WMS/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) along with MES and Kanban systems
Proven leadership experience in fast-paced or launch environments
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
Familiarity with lean manufacturing, just-in-time (JIT), and continuous improvement methods
Working Environment
Fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing setting
Combination of office work and shop floor presence
Occasional travel to suppliers, launch sites, or logistics partners may be required
Compensation
Base salary range: $131,773 – $197,660 annually
Compensation is based on experience, skills, education, and other relevant factors
