Manager, Production (Day Shift)

Our Jonestown Distribution Center, a 218,000 sq. ft. refrigerated facility operating 24/7, is currently seeking a Production Manager to join our team. The essential function of this position is to oversee and manage all daily activities of the Production Department. Ensures all Production orders are completed, according to Customer Specifications, time, packs and cost. The Manager is responsible to maintain strict compliance to all Health and Food Safety guidelines, Grade-Out procedures, Production standards and governmental regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Flexibility to work across all four production shifts to ensure consistency, provide direction and support as needed
• Work with Commodity Inventory Manager to communicate any issues or concerns in schedule attainment
• Oversees all activities within the Production department.
• Sets and enforces specific performance expectations of Quality, Cost, Organization, and Commitment to the production management team.
• Monitor status of daily order requirements, and ensure order completion to meet ready time within customer specifications.
• Enforces proper packing procedures to meet product specs, costs and organization.
• Maintains accurate grade-out and recording procedures for.
• Maintain a clean and organized department at all times.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of both produce and packaging that flows through production including consumptions and outputs
• Maintains all departments' activities to meet Health and Food Safety policies.
• Ensures the Commodity Managers' allocations are being followed.
• Provides training and guidance to production management team on customer specs, packing production processes, and health\food safety policies.
• Oversees all quality inspection activities within the department.
• Maintains effective communication between all four production shifts and teamwork between departments (Shipping, Receiving, Commodity Inventory, etc.) to get orders out on time and at the lowest cost.
• Motivates, organizes and encourages teamwork within the Production department on all four shifts.
• Monitors packaging supply inventory and ensure availability to meet daily production requirements.
• Provides regular production reports daily, weekly and monthly.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School Diploma or GED, previous manager experience
• Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in a production leadership environment; produce industry a plus
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task
• A proven track record of managing large groups of employees as an active floor manager
• Proficiency in use of English language with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, present information and direction, and field questions from managers, employees and external contacts
• Spanish as a second language would be an asset
• Proficient in computer-use skills (MS Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Willingness to work independently, with minimal supervision and take ownership of job
• A high degree of professionalism and personal integrity
• Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. Need to be creative, adaptable and able to accurately handle out-of-the-ordinary issues with a sense of urgency.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including extended workdays on different shifts
• Strong knowledge of local, provincial and federal laws and requirements to maintain compliance to all relevant statues and guiding

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to work in our refrigerated warehouse with 50° F temperature-controlled zones.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. with or without accommodation
• Position requires sitting, standing, walking and bending, squatting, and crawling on a regular basis
