Here's a summary of responsibilities:
The Manager, Proposal Development plays a central role in advancing the Foundation’s fundraising efforts by leading the development of compelling, strategic, and high-quality donor proposals and related materials. This role translates complex programs and funding priorities into clear, persuasive narratives tailored to individual, foundation, and institutional prospects.
Working closely with the Director, Institutional Giving & Proposal Strategy and colleagues across fundraising, programs, finance, and communications teams, the Manager ensures that all proposals are aligned with organizational priorities, grounded in accurate data, and positioned to inspire philanthropic investment in Team USA athletes.
Here’s how you’ll have an impact:
Proposal Strategy & Development (50%)
- Lead the end-to-end development of donor proposals, concept notes, and grant submissions, from initial scoping through final delivery.
- Translate funding priorities, program needs, and campaign objectives into clear, compelling, and prospect-specific cases for support. Ensure proposals are tailored to funder interests, decision-making timelines, and giving mechanisms.
- Partner closely with frontline fundraisers to align proposal strategy with cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans.
- Distill complex programmatic, financial, and operational information into concise, accessible, and compelling language. Uphold the Foundation’s voice, brand, and strategic priorities across all written materials.
- Maintain and continuously refine a library of core narratives, boilerplate language, data points, and proof points to support efficient proposal development.
- Adapt core content for different audiences, funder types, and investment levels.
Cross-Functional Collaboration (20%)
- Work closely with program, finance, and external relations teams to gather inputs, clarify funding requirements, and validate content.
- Align timelines, inputs, and reviews to ensure high-quality, on-time submission of proposals and related materials.
- Support the Director in managing workflow, prioritization, and capacity across multiple concurrent proposal efforts.
Process & Systems Management (30%)
- Ensure all proposal and donor-facing materials are accurate, polished, and tailored to the intended audience, maintaining consistency in tone, messaging, and formatting.
- Incorporate feedback from internal leadership and external partners to continuously strengthen proposal quality and effectiveness.
- Refine, document, and apply proposal development processes to improve efficiency, clarity, and scalability across the institutional giving portfolio.
- Manage and maintain Monday.com project management tools for proposal development and institutional giving programs, ensuring clear workflows, timelines, accountability, and visibility across stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary owner for entering, updating, and maintaining proposal and institutional giving data in Salesforce, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with development reporting needs.
- Track proposal activity, deadlines, and outcomes across systems. Maintain organized records and contribute to knowledge management by capturing lessons learned, successful approaches, and funder insights in appropriate systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in proposal development, grant writing, fundraising, or related field
- Proven track record of communicating organizational vision and priorities in a compelling and persuasive manger to institutional funders and stakeholders
- Experience supporting major gifts, foundation grants, or institutional fundraising preferred
- Knowledge of U.S. foundation giving trends and institutional funding strategies
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly, persuasively, and concisely for internal and external audiences
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, donor management software, and other relevant tools
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment, with the ability to work across teams and synthesize diverse inputs
- Professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality in donor relationships

- Hiring pay range $68,000 - $80,000 per year.
- This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
- Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 15% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
