Position Summary: 

Lead complex client engagements that drive measurable performance outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare services environment. This role is responsible for managing multiple projects, coordinating internal and external resources, and ensuring high-quality delivery across revenue cycle operations. The Project Lead uses data insights and structured processes to improve outcomes, mitigate risks, and optimize performance. This is a hybrid role based in the United States. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Managed Services. 

About the Team: 

The Advisory Services team supports healthcare organizations in improving operational and financial performance across the revenue cycle. The team partners closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and external vendors to deliver scalable, outcome-focused services. Using data analytics, operational expertise, and structured workflows, the team identifies performance gaps and drives continuous improvement. Tools and systems include revenue cycle platforms, reporting dashboards, and workflow management solutions. 

Essential Job Responsibilities: 

  • Lead multiple client engagements, ensuring successful delivery, achievement of project goals, and alignment with client expectations 

  • Manage third-party or vendor resources, including monitoring attendance, productivity, quality, and service level performance 

  • Analyze client performance across key revenue cycle metrics (e.g., accounts receivable, denial rates, charge lag, collections) and implement improvement plans as needed 

  • Identify and manage risks, issues, and escalations, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication 

  • Communicate regularly with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders, providing status updates and actionable insights 

  • Facilitate project meetings and operational reviews to align on priorities and performance expectations 

  • Present business reviews and performance updates to client leadership, including trends, risks, and recommendations 

  • Use data and reporting tools to evaluate operational performance and support decision-making 

  • Integrate AI-enabled tools into workflows to analyze performance data, identify trends, and improve efficiency; guide team members on practical AI use in day-to-day operations 

Additional Job Responsibilities: 

  • Support development of standard operating procedures and workflow documentation 

  • Contribute to training materials and onboarding resources for team members or partners 

  • Assist in refining operational processes and identifying opportunities for efficiency 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address client needs and improve service delivery 

  • Participate in internal initiatives to enhance tools, reporting, or service models 

  • Share insights and best practices with peers to support team development 

Expected Education & Experience: 

  • 5+ years of experience managing multiple projects, including planning, execution, and stakeholder communication 

  • 5+ years of experience with end-to-end  athenaOne revenue cycle workflows, including patient access, billing, and collections 

  • 3+ years of experience analyzing operational data and translating insights into measurable improvements 

  • 3+ years of experience in a client-facing role with accountability for outcomes and satisfaction 

  • Experience working with stakeholders in a business environment 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to present information clearly to a range of audiences, including senior leaders 

  • Experience managing third-party vendors or external resources preferred 

  • Familiarity with healthcare billing processes, coding standards, and terminology preferred 

  • Experience with revenue cycle platforms and workflow tools preferred 

 

Expected Compensation

$105,000 - $179,000

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.  Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
