Description

The Manager of the Social Work & Case Management Services Department is responsible, under the general supervision of the Department Director, for the daily planning, development and implementation of the utilization review, case management and social work functions in accordance with Baptist health and departmental policies, legal and regulatory agencies guidelines. This includes but is not limited to staffing issues and activities related to referral and prior insurance authorizations, concurrent reviews, discharge planning issues, retrospective claims reviews, report generation and state and federal regulatory and accreditation program compliance. Assumes overall responsibility of assuring cost effective utilization of hospital resources and ancillary services, including the appropriateness of IP/OP admissions, continued stay and discharge. Provides support and problem solving interventions to department staff and is available for consultation to the health care team. The Manager will support the Director in the development of long range strategic initiatives for the Department and will support interventions dedicated to team development, cross training and the continuous development of caring and compassionate professionals.

Degrees:

  • Masters.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Social Work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • Must have five years or more of previous experience in a hospital or health care setting; knowledge of crisis intervention and treatment skills, clinical assessment skills, utilization review criteria and utilization management.
  • Must be familiar with performance improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written work.
  • Certified in Case Management or Interqual criteria.
