The Manager, Strategic Business Operations serves as a strategic partner to hospital leadership in advancing organizational growth, operational performance, financial sustainability, and service line development. This role combines healthcare analytics, business planning, physician engagement, operational improvement, and project management to identify opportunities for volume growth, margin improvement, resource optimization, and enhanced patient access. The position works collaboratively with clinical, operational, financial, and physician leaders to evaluate service line performance, support strategic planning initiatives, develop business cases for new programs and investments, and drive implementation of organizational priorities.

Essential Duties

  • Service Line Strategy & Growth • Supports development and execution of service line growth strategies aligned with organizational priorities. • Evaluates market opportunities, referral patterns, competitive trends, and community needs. • Develops business plans and growth strategies for new and existing programs. • Identifies opportunities to expand access, improve market position, and increase service utilization. • Supports physician recruitment, onboarding, and program development initiatives.
  • Financial & Operational Performance • Conducts service line profitability analyses and evaluates contribution margin performance. • Partners with Finance to assess procedural costs, reimbursement trends, labor utilization, supply expenses, and financial opportunities. • Identifies and evaluates opportunities for revenue enhancement, cost reduction, and operational efficiency. • Develops financial models and business cases for capital investments, new technology, staffing requests, and program expansion. • Supports annual operating and capital planning processes.
  • Value Analysis & Resource Utilization • Supports value analysis initiatives and evaluates opportunities for supply, equipment, and procedural standardization. • Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis of new technologies, products, and clinical programs. • Collaborates with Supply Chain, Finance, and operational leaders to identify utilization improvement opportunities. • Evaluates procedural variation and opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining quality outcomes.
  • Physician & Community Engagement • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, community providers, and strategic partners. • Supports physician engagement initiatives related to service line growth and operational improvement. • Assists with physician outreach, referral development, and strategic partnership activities. • Facilitates collaboration between physicians, hospital leadership, and operational teams.
  • Strategic projects • Serves as project manager for strategic initiatives, program launches, and organizational priorities. • Coordinates multidisciplinary teams and facilitates project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting. • Supports initiatives related to service line expansion, patient access, capacity planning, and operational transformation. • Provides executive-level analyses and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Req Bachelor's Degree
  • Pref Master's degree Masters with emphasis in business and healthcare (e.g. MBA, MHA, MHSA, MPH)
  • Req 5 years Progressive experience in healthcare administration, healthcare consulting strategy, service line management, performance improvement, finance, business operations or related healthcare leadership roles.
  • Req Experience developing business cases, financial analysis, physician engagement strategies, and program development
  • Req Experience analyzing operational, financial and clinical performance data and translating findings into actionable recommendations
  • Req Experience leading cross functional projects involving clinical operational and administrative stakeholders
  • Req Ability to manage complex projects to meet partnership goals and objectives while maintaining scope, preferably below budget and ahead of schedule
  • Req Proven problem solving skills from problem assessment to solution selection
  • Req Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Req Strong client relationship management and customer service skills
  • Req Ability to coordinate diverse, cross-functional teams so that all individuals and teams work in concert to meet partnership objectives
  • Req Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, providing options and recommendations relating to resolving issues, mitigating risks, and resolving escalated items.

The annual base salary range for this position is $114,000.00 - $150,000.00.
