Manager, Supplier Industrialization Engineer, IC Component

This role encompasses ownership of the IC component strategy, qualification, and production readiness for automotive electronics. The position involves partnering closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to drive component selection, reliability, supplier quality and failure analysis while leading a team of component engineers. The role also requires influencing suppliers, managing technology roadmaps and lifecycle changes, supporting new product introductions through production ramp, and traveling domestically and internationally to ensure supplier readiness and product quality.

• Own the IC component roadmap for assigned product lines (analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, memory, PMICs, MCUs/SoCs, connectivity, sensors, power discrete/modules as applicable) alongside engineering counterparts
• Lead component selection, second-source strategy, and technology assessments (process node, package, reliability, AEC-Q / automotive-grade where required)
• Drive IC qualification plans: electrical characterization, reliability (HTOL, HAST, TC, board-level), ESD/latch-up, PPAP/APQP inputs, and confirm production release criteria with the system engineers
• Partner with design, systems, validation, and manufacturing on schematic/BOM decisions, derating rules, and design-for-reliability/manufacturability
• Lead failure analysis and corrective action for IC-related field, factory, NPI, inline escape, OQC, IQC, and perfmance issues (8D, FA coordination with OSATs/fabs/IDMs)
• Establish and maintain component specifications, approved vendor lists (AVL), PCNs/PDNs management, and obsolescence / last-time-buy strategy
• Define and track quality and performance KPIs (DPPM/PPM, yield impact, escape rate, qualification on-time, cost roadmap)
• Influence supplier process controls, change management, and capacity readiness for critical ICs
• Ensure production readiness for ramp: supply continuity, test coverage, packing/MSL, traceability, process windows; collaborate on DFM/DFT and solderability with SMT, test, and suppliers
• Hire, coach, and develop a team of component / component design engineers
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field and 8+ years in semiconductor, IC design support, component engineering, hardware EE, or reliability engineering; 2+ years leading engineers or acting as technical lead of multi-person efforts, or equivalent experience
• Strong working knowledge of IC technologies and packages (e.g., QFN, BGA, WLCSP, power modules), datasheets, errata, and application constraints
• Hands-on experience with component qualification, reliability standards, and production release in complex hardware systems
• Proven ability to drive cross-functional decisions under schedule and supply pressure and supply pressure, and to influence supplier organizations at a senior level
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to write clear specs, qualification reports, and executive-ready risk summaries for technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with BOM/PLM tools and engineering change processes
• At least 3 years' experience in a people management role & proven track record to build and lead a strong team
• Failure analysis literacy (electrical FA, construction analysis, coordination with labs)
• Experience in automotive, industrial, energy, or other high-reliability electronics (AEC-Q100/Q101/Q200, ISO 26262 awareness a plus), APQP/PPAP, IATF 16949 concepts, and supplier quality systems
• Demonstrate a take-charge attitude, independent operator who sets priorities amid competing urgent needs; comfortable in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment impacting vehicle safety and performance; able to travel domestic and international travel up to 25% at short notice

Expected Compensation

$136,000 - $246,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
