Provides operational leadership and strategic oversight for the Teaching, Learning, and Distance Education (TLDE) department. Oversees institutional efforts related to instructional support, online and hybrid learning, faculty development, instructional technologies, digital accessibility, distance education compliance, and academic support operations. Supervises TLDE personnel and ensures institutional compliance with accreditation expectations, accessibility standards, and distance education requirements while advancing high quality teaching and learning experiences that support student success and institutional effectiveness

Essential Functions:

  1. In conjunction with Dean, Student Life and Engagement, contributes to strategic leadership. Provides, supervision, direction, and operational oversight for the Teaching, Learning, and Distance Education department, including direct supervision of the Learning Designer and LMS Administrator, while ensuring effective coordination of instructional support services, digital learning operations, faculty support, student Canvas orientation and onboarding initiatives, and departmental priorities.

  2. Leads institutional efforts related to online, hybrid, remote, and technology enhanced learning initiatives Ensures instructional quality, student engagement, course effectiveness, online learning readiness, and alignment with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and best practices in higher education teaching and learning.

  3. Oversee and ensure institutional compliance with relevant ADA, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards. Ensures compliance with distance education regulations, relevant accreditation expectations, copyright requirements, and relevant federal and state compliance obligations through active monitoring, reporting, documentation management, remediation tracking, and continuous improvement processes.

  4. Develops, implements, and manages comprehensive accessibility and compliance workflows. Workflows address course review processes, faculty outreach, remediation timelines, training initiatives, reporting structures, audit preparation, student support resources, and institutional tracking systems to support accountability and measurable progress, including artificial intelligence tools, ethical AI integration, digital literacy, and emerging instructional technologies.

  5. Oversees the administration, support, maintenance, optimization, and continuous improvement of the College's learning management system and instructional technologies in partnership with the LMS Administrator and Information Technologies staff, including system integrations, upgrades, troubleshooting, vendor coordination, user support, student onboarding support, testing, and technology implementation.

  6. Collaborates with faculty, Deans, Chairs, Information Technologies, and campus leadership to support course quality, instructional innovation, accessibility remediation, curriculum development, assessment strategies, online student success initiatives, student orientation efforts related to digital learning systems, and implementation of effective teaching and learning practices across all instructional modalities.

  7. Develops, coordinates, and evaluates comprehensive faculty, staff, and student development opportunities related to instructional technology, Canvas navigation and usage, accessibility compliance, online pedagogy, course design, assessment practices, digital learning strategies, student engagement, online learning readiness, and emerging educational technologies through in person, virtual, and asynchronous delivery methods, including emerging educational technologies, artificial intelligence applications, ethical instructional technology practices, and evolving digital learning innovations.

  8. Utilizes institutional data, accessibility reports, faculty feedback, course review findings, service metrics, student performance indicators, Canvas usage trends, and assessment results to evaluate operational effectiveness, identify risk areas, support strategic planning, improve departmental performance, and inform data driven decision making and continuous improvement efforts.

  9. Develops and maintains departmental operational procedures, resource materials, FAQs, training documentation, student and faculty support materials, communication plans, project timelines, service standards, and workflow processes to ensure efficient operations, effective stakeholder communication, and consistent delivery of TLDE services and support.

Job Specifications:

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in higher education, instructional technology, instructional design, education, distance education, curriculum development, educational leadership, or related field required.

Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education related to teaching and learning support, instructional technology, distance education, faculty development, accessibility compliance, or academic support services.

Supervisory or management experience required.

Demonstrated experience with learning management systems, instructional technologies, accessibility standards, online learning practices, accreditation processes, and faculty support services.

Knowledge of ADA, WCAG accessibility standards, distance education regulations, accreditation expectations, and instructional best practices.

Experience supporting accreditation, compliance, accessibility remediation, and online learning initiatives.

Experience with Canvas or other learning management systems and instructional technology integrations.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in higher education, instructional technology, instructional design, education, distance education, curriculum development, educational leadership, or related field preferred.

Experience in community college teaching and learning environments.

Experience developing and delivering faculty professional development programs.

Experience collaborating across Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Information Technologies.

Strong communication, leadership, organizational, project management, and collaboration skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze data, coordinate operational initiatives, and work effectively within a complex organizational environment.
