About the Role:
\nThe Manager, Transportation is responsible for driving HUSA Operations measures of success across domestic transportation, return logistics, and managed transportation execution. This role owns the day-to-day operating rhythm required to deliver safe, reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable transportation performance across HUSA’s distributor network and logistics service provider ecosystem. The Manager, Transportation partners closely with Warehousing, Customer Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, Finance, D&T, and external Logistics Service Partners to manage service execution, routing guide performance, carrier compliance, tendering controls, appointment adherence, exception management, cost visibility, and continuous improvement. The role supports transformation of the transportation function by strengthening governance routines, data quality, SOP discipline, vendor scorecards, and improvement pipelines while helping deliver business-critical peak season readiness, customer service reliability, budget control, and longer-term network optimization priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
\nTransportation Operations Management:
\n• Responsible for daily transportation execution across domestic outbound, transfer, and return logistics flows, ensuring performance to safety, service, cost, quality, and sustainability objectives.
\n• Lead vendor-facing daily and weekly control system routines to review service exceptions, tender performance, appointment adherence, POD compliance, late reason coding, capacity risks, and corrective action plans.
\n• Partner cross-functionally with Customer Supply Chain, Planning, Warehousing, Procurement, Finance, D&T, Inventory, and Logistics Transformation to resolve transportation risks and protect distributor service.
\n• Anticipate and manage capacity constraints, demand point bottlenecks, routing guide failures, tender rejections, spot market needs, and peak season execution risks through structured problem solving and escalation.
\n• Maintain strong operational controls through SOPs, process maps, training materials, issue logs, open action trackers, and standardized reporting routines.• Monitor transportation market trends, carrier performance, cost drivers, fuel assumptions, and regulatory developments to support informed decisions and timely leadership communication.• Support execution of transportation technology, data, and reporting improvements, including TMS connectivity, EDI compliance, carrier data quality, invoice accuracy, and performance dashboard adoption.
\nDistributor & Customer Support:• Support premium, segmented service for top distributors by identifying transportation service gaps, root causes, and corrective actions.
\n• Serve as an escalation point for logistics coordination issues impacting distributor delivery reliability, requested delivery dates, appointment scheduling, and shipment visibility.
\n• Partner with Customer Supply Chain and Sales to support business reviews, service recovery actions, customer value initiatives, and continuous improvement opportunities that improve customer experience and cost-to-serve.
\nVendor Management & Governance:
\n• Manage transportation partner performance across managed transportation providers, asset carriers, brokerage partners, fuel management providers, and supporting logistics vendors.
\n• Track conformance to contract requirements, SLA standards, carrier acceptance, appointment compliance, POD submission, EDI messaging, invoice accuracy, safety expectations, and corrective action closure.
\n• Coordinate weekly reviews, monthly business reviews, QBR inputs, joint improvement plans, and scorecard routines that hold partners accountable for service, cost, safety, quality, and sustainability performance.
\n• Support procurement and legal stakeholders during RFP, tender, carrier onboarding, contract redline, accessorial, fuel, payment term, and commercial review activities.
\nProject Management & Continuous Improvement:
\n• Lead transportation projects and serve as the subject-matter expert for cross-functional initiatives involving network changes, routing guide optimization, logistics service provider maturity, cost reduction, service reliability, and sustainability improvement.• Support operational execution of supply chain network changes, new carrier implementations, demand point transitions, and managed transportation process enhancements on time and in full.• Define project problem statements, business cases, scope, owners, success criteria, timelines, risks, dependencies, and benefit tracking.
\n• Apply continuous improvement methodologies such as RCFA, 5-Why, Ishikawa, Kaizen, standard work, visual management, and value stream mapping to improve transportation outcomes.
\n• Contribute to logistics transformation initiatives by improving governance routines, data quality, KPI visibility, system adoption, and repeatable operating standards across the transportation network.
