This role combines VAT advisory expertise with operational assurance to strengthen controls, enhance compliance, and support informed business decision‑making. The Manager will help operational teams de‑risk VAT exposure by ensuring testing, evidence collection, and compliance assessments are robust, consistent, and aligned with regulatory, policy, and organizational requirements.Key Job ResponsibilitiesReview and validate operational assurance activities: Ensure all assurance work aligns with VAT requirements, regulatory expectations, and internal standards, providing independent validation of outcomes.Evaluate testing methodologies, evidence collection, and sampling approaches: Assess the robustness, appropriateness, and effectiveness of controls and assurance procedures, identifying any gaps or inconsistencies.Identify gaps, risks, or weaknesses in operational compliance: Analyse operational processes and transactional data to pinpoint areas of risk, providing actionable recommendations to mitigate VAT exposure.Collaborate with VAT advisory teams: Partner with VAT advisory colleagues to ensure outputs meet controllership expectations, translating technical guidance into practical operational application.Support continuous improvement: Drive enhancements to VAT processes, assurance practices, and operational risk controls, promoting efficiency, scalability, and consistency across multi‑jurisdictional operations.Provide insights and recommendations to the Senior Manager: Deliver evidence‑based observations and guidance to support strategic oversight, operational risk prioritisation, and decision‑making.Challenge operational readiness and monitoring: Review SOPs, controls, and operational outputs to ensure consistency with VAT policy and governance expectations, highlighting issues for corrective action.Support issue identification and escalation: Maintain awareness of operational gaps or recurring issues, flagging systemic or high‑risk matters to the Senior Manager for action.Basic QualificationsExtensive experience in VAT advisory or assurance, ideally from top‑tier consulting/advisory firms (Big 4 or equivalent) or in large, highly regulated corporate environments.Strong technical knowledge of VAT legislation, with a track record of providing practical, business‑focused advice to support operational and strategic decision‑making.Exposure to assurance, control frameworks, or operational risk management, enabling effective review and validation of testing, evidence, and controls.Experience operating in multi‑jurisdictional environments, large organisations, or commercial marketplaces with complex VAT obligations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Preferred QualificationsRecognised professional tax qualification, chartered accountant, or relevant legal degree.VAT advisory and risk management expertise: Professionals with extensive experience in VAT advisory and risk management, focused on identifying, managing, and mitigating VAT exposure within complex operational environments.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.#J-18808-Ljbffr
