Join the highly professional and team-oriented Auditor-Controllers office and direct divisions vital to recording financial transactions that meet government accounting standards to produce accurate financial statements for the County of Nevada. This management-level opportunity utilizes extensive technical knowledge in exercising independent judgment and decision-making. This key role develops and implements division and department goals and furthers County objectives. Other key proficiencies include:

  • Planning, organizing, reviewing, and evaluating the work of staff
  • Providing for the training and professional development of staff
  • Principles of general, fund and government accounting, auditing, and budgeting
  • Principles of both internal and external audits
  • Applicable county, state and federal guidelines and laws
  • Principles of business data processing, particularly related to the processing of accounting information
  • Establishing and maintaining internal controls
  • Preparing clear, concise, and accurate reports and other written correspondence
  • Interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations and policies relating to Auditor-Controller functions
  • Analyzing complex problems, evaluating alternatives, and making sound judgments and recommendations

A Managing Accountant-Auditor is an integral part of the Auditor-Controllers team! This position is crafted for individuals who have minimum of a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, or a related field. Also, three years of professional accounting and/or auditing experience is required with at least one year of supervisory experience directing professional or technical staff.

Education:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, or a related field. Master?s in accounting or related field may substitute for bachelor?s in unrelated field.

AND

Experience:

Three years of journey-level or above professional accounting and/or auditing experience, including at least one year involving supervising or directing the work of professional and/or technical staff.

Retirement

The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and also provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
