Scion Legal Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Managing Attorney on behalf of our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to high-quality immigration legal services in Portland, OR.

This is an exceptional leadership opportunity for an immigration attorney who is passionate about serving immigrant communities while guiding a dedicated legal team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Immigration Legal Services department.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of attorneys, DOJ-accredited representatives, legal assistants, and support staff.
  • Review legal filings, conduct case file reviews, and ensure compliance with professional responsibility standards and organizational policies.
  • Assign and manage caseload distribution to promote efficiency and equitable workloads.
  • Maintain a limited caseload focused on complex humanitarian and family-based immigration matters, including asylum, removal defense, U Visas, and VAWA cases before USCIS and EOIR.
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop long-term program strategy, operational goals, and service delivery initiatives.
  • Manage departmental budgets, grant compliance, reporting requirements, and quality assurance processes.
  • Develop and enhance case management systems, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Represent the organization through community partnerships, legal education efforts, coalitions, and pro bono initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Previous immigration law experience and supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of immigration law, legal ethics, and case management best practices.
  • Experience managing complex immigration matters before USCIS and EOIR.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, mentoring, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary: $100,000-$110,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
