$105,398- $158,097, Pay dependent on qualifications and in accordance with Oregons Pay Equity Act.

Position Overview:

The City of Springfield is seeking a Managing Civil Engineer- Traffic to manage and ensure regulatory compliance with all traffic systems by operating the system, design of the system, analysis, intergovernmental cooperation and coordination.

Essential Duties to Include:

  • Managing the planning, design, and implementation of traffic and transportation projects, including signal systems, roadway safety improvements, and traffic flow optimization.
  • Leads engineering teams, evaluates traffic studies, ensures adherence to standards and regulations, and provides technical direction on complex traffic engineering challenges.
  • Leads Operations Technicians and Electricians for maintenance, repair, and preservation of all signal, sign, and street marking assets.
  • Collaborates with public agencies, internal departments, and community stakeholders to enhance mobility and safety.

Training & Experience:

The City will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. Such a way to meet minimum qualifications could include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field, and;
  • 8 or more years of experience in civil engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory responsibilities

Preferences may be given for knowledge and experience:

  • Transportation Engineering
  • Transportation Planning
  • Knowledge of Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
  • Experience with Traffic Simulation, GIS, and CAD software
  • Experience with City Council communications and the ability to present
