Job Description

Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) delivers a comprehensive suite of banking, capital markets and advisory solutions, including a full complement of sales, trading and research capabilities, to corporate, government and institutional clients. The Chief Operating Office (COO) supports the business by delivering platforms, processes and systems across a wide range of disciplines. This includes LOB business management, business solutions & enablement, client lifecycle management, data management, strategy & transformation, and innovation.

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to serve as a senior member of the CIB COO leadership team and is responsible for driving operational excellence, organizational effectiveness, and strategic execution across the Corporate & Investment Banking platform. The CAO partners closely with business leaders, COO teams, and Enterprise functions to enhance shared services capabilities, strengthen governance and risk programs, improve workforce and workplace effectiveness, and enable the successful execution of strategic transformation initiatives.

This executive leads a global organization responsible setting the vision and strengthening capabilities within business support, strategic initiatives, vendor and workplace management, workforce optimization and location strategy, real estate and facilities management, resiliency, information management and record keeping, daily operations, print services, administrative support and transformation activities that support continued business growth and a simplified operating model.

In this role, you will:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the vision, strategy, and operating model for the CIB CAO organization.
  • Partner with CIB executives to identify and deliver strategic priorities that improve organizational effectiveness and business performance.
  • Lead CIB-wide transformation and remediation initiatives designed to modernize processes, simplify operations, and enhance employee and client experiences, while reducing operational risk and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as a key advisor to senior business and COO leadership on organizational, operational, and workforce matters.

Business Management & Operational Excellence

  • Drive consistent execution of critical business management disciplines across CIB.
  • Oversee workforce planning, location strategy, administrative services, onboarding and offboarding processes, and workplace experience programs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce complexity, and enhance service delivery.

Shared Services & Enterprise Partnership

  • Lead efforts to strengthen and integrate shared service capabilities across the organization.
  • Partner with Enterprise functions to deliver coordinated business solutions.
  • Create scalable processes and frameworks that support sustainable growth and organizational agility.

Risk, Controls & Governance

  • Partner with risk and control organizations to drive accountability, transparency, and regulatory readiness.
  • Promote a strong risk and compliance culture aligned with enterprise expectations.

Transformation & Change Management

  • Lead strategic transformation and remediation programs impacting CAO portfolio functions and capabilities.
  • Drive adoption of enterprise initiatives and modernization efforts.
  • Serve as a change champion to ensure successful implementation of large-scale organizational initiatives.
  • Create sustainable governance and accountability mechanisms to support execution.

Global Organization Leadership

  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing global team.
  • Foster strong collaboration across regions and business functions.
  • Support integration of global delivery teams into the broader operating model.
  • Drive talent development, succession planning, and organizational capability building.
  • Collaborate with COO and CIB leadership teams to support CIB strategic plan execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Business Execution, Implementation, or Strategic Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 6+ years of management experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated executive leadership experience managing large-scale business, operational, or transformation functions.
  • Experience operating functions embedded within the CAO portfolio.
  • Strong understanding of organizational design, workforce strategy, governance, risk management, and operational effectiveness.
  • Proven ability to influence senior executives and drive results through complex matrixed organizations.
  • Experience leading global teams and managing cross-functional initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication, change management, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$250,000.00 - $420,000.00
