The Managing Principal Consultant for Distribution Consulting is responsible for developing, performing, and leading major consulting, engineering, and training initiatives that support the growth and advancement of MEPPIs distribution consulting business. This role serves as the organizations primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for distribution planning and related consulting services, providing technical leadership both internally and externally.

The Power Systems Engineering Division (PSED) at Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) serves as the companys engineering and consulting arm, helping grid operators, utilities, generators, and major energy users plan, design, and solve complex power system challenges. Our specialty is delivering tailored services that uncover insights beyond the surface and proactively address technical and commercial risks. Our focus is delivering dependable, low-friction project outcomes, reducing uncertainty around system reliability, schedule, compliance, complexity, stranded capital, and reputational exposure.

What Youll Do

Direct Departmental Oversight: Plan, manage, and direct the activities of the distribution consulting team.

Talent Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers through performance management and employee development initiatives.

Operational Administration: Resource planning and the administration of department policies and procedures.

Consulting Excellence: Drive high-quality outcomes for customers while leading major engineering and training initiatives.

Portfolio Growth: Lead business development efforts for the distribution consulting sector, identifying market opportunities and shaping solution offerings.

Professional Networking: Represent MEPPI within the electric utility industry and maintain strong professional networks.

Industry Leadership: Actively participate in national and regional forums-such as CIGRE and IEEE-to contribute to industry thought leadership.

Primary Distribution SME: Serve as the organizations lead expert for distribution planning and related consulting services.

Technical Guidance: Provide leadership both internally to staff and externally to utility clients.

Consulting Engagement: Leverage deep experience in performing distribution planning studies and managing high-level consulting engagements.

What You Bring

Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on electric power engineering, or equivalent technical discipline, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems studies consulting field, electric utility system planning, or T&D manufacturers application engineering, or equivalent education and experience in areas key to the position.

Skills/Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of electric grid consulting and power systems engineering. Advanced knowledge of power systems, computer methods, and analytical techniques. Advanced technical writing skills. Advanced interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required to communicate with employees, customers, and suppliers. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products and power systems analysis software tools.
