    Job Description

    We're seeking a passionate educator who loves working with young children and believes in the power of language immersion. The ideal candidate is energetic, patient, nurturing, and committed to helping children develop a lifelong love of learning while acquiring Mandarin in a natural and engaging way.

    The Mandarin Immersion Teacher is responsible for educating, nurturing, and supervising children ages 2 to 6 years old in a Mandarin language immersion environment. This role is instrumental in fostering children's language development, social-emotional growth, and school readiness through engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.

    The teacher will implement the Crossing Borders Immersion Curriculum while creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment where children feel valued, supported, and encouraged to explore. Native-level fluency in Mandarin is required to provide a consistent and authentic language immersion experience.

    This position may also assist with the supervision of children during before-school and after-school programs as needed.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Provide a high-quality Mandarin language immersion experience in accordance with the Crossing Borders curriculum and teaching philosophy.
    • Foster children's language acquisition through interactive play, songs, storytelling, hands-on activities, and daily routines conducted in Mandarin.
    • Create and maintain a warm, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that supports each child's individual growth.
    • Develop and implement weekly lesson plans aligned with curriculum goals and children's developmental needs.
    • Observe, assess, and document children's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones.
    • Adapt teaching strategies and classroom activities to accommodate varying developmental levels, learning styles, and interests.
    • Promote children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development through positive guidance and age-appropriate practices.
    • Supervise and assist children with daily care routines, including meals, rest time, diapering, toileting, and personal hygiene.
    • Maintain an organized, safe, and engaging learning environment, including classroom materials and supplies.
    • Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues through ongoing communication and collaboration.
    • Conduct parent conferences and communicate children's progress, achievements, and developmental needs.
    • Support children's transitions between classrooms and developmental stages.
    • Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, emergency protocols, and center policies.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to Teacher Aides and support staff as assigned.
    • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
    • Assist with the training and onboarding of new team members when needed.
    • Supervise children during before-school and after-school activities as assigned.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the program.
    • Maintain flexibility in scheduling based on program and staffing needs.

    Qualifications

    • Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese required.
    • Experience working with toddlers and preschool-aged children (ages 2-6) preferred.
    • Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
    • Ability to create a positive, engaging, and language-rich learning environment.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to build strong relationships with children, families, and team members.
    • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification as required.
    • Must meet all state licensing requirements for early childhood educators.
