    Description

     

    Job Objective: Perform Manometry testing and Fibro scans ordered by physicians. Ensures quality patient care throughout the patient experience

     

    Scope of responsibilities and accountability:

    · Practices within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and approved OGGI policies and procedures.

    · Assures quality patient care throughout the manometry/fibro scan testing experience.

    · Maintains positive working relationships with physicians, manager, and peers.

    · Maintains work environment by performing proper and safe care and reprocessing of manometry and fibro scan equipment.

    · Follows infections control standards at all times

    · Reports directly to Director of Nursing and/or designee.

     

    Major activities and essential job functions1:

    · Responsible for the scheduling and performing manometry procedures. The procedures most commonly performed being esophageal manometry, pH studies and anorectal manometry.

    · Responsible for the scheduling and performance of Fibro Scan tests for patients.

    · Tests equipment prior to either procedure to ensure it is working properly.

    · Completes disinfection procedures for manometry equipment after use or as needed.

    · Properly cleans and disinfects/sterilizes accessories used during the procedure.

    · Calls technical support for any issues with manometry/fibro scan equipment.

    · Ensures test results are reviewed by physicians in a timely manner

    · Maintains equipment records

    · Maintains appropriate inventory levels, assisting with ordering and practice cost containment.

    · Secures and restock rooms with supplies/accessories

    · May gather initial patient information questions such as patient complaint, known allergies, may help patient undress and dress, may take and record vital signs, assist with patient discharge as needed

    · Responsible for protecting confidential and/or privileged information according to office policy. Promotes and supports patient/family-centered care.

    · Adheres to infection control principles and applies universal precautions according office standards.

    · Will work with EMR (electronic medical records) including accessing the electronic chart, documenting, scanning

    · Functions as a liaison between patients/families, nursing staff, physicians, physician offices or other centers

    · Performs other duties as assigned2.

     

     

    Position Qualifications:

    · Graduate of an approved School of Practical Nursing, with current license to practice as an L.P.N. in the state of Ohio.

    · Hospital or outpatient experience within the past 3-5 years required.

    · Special training and/or experience in fibro scan and/or manometry procedures preferred.

    · Current BLS certification

    · Effective communication and listening skills.

    · Ability to communicate with diversified levels of patients, staff members and management

    · Ability to organize work material, charts to ensure accuracy of patient records.

    · Ability to work independently, establish priorities and proceed with objectives

    · Knowledge of various computer programs, including internet experience. Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.

    · Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including telephone communication, office systems and record keeping.

    · Ability to handle and resolve problems

    · Maintain neat and professional demeanor

    · Speaks fluent English

     

    Regulatory Requirements/Risks/Exposures:

    · Works with chemicals including, but not limited to, chlorine bleach, glutaraldehyde and fomalin

    · Physical demand requirements meet those defined as HEAVY work, exerting 50–100 pounds of force occasionally, 25–50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 1–20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

     

    On-going Job Expectations & Competency:

    · In addition to the above, on-going job expectations are as follows:

    • Maintain CEUs for licensure

    • Orient to new procedures and equipment

    • Responsible for maintaining BCLS.

    • Maintain annual fire safety/general safety training

    • Maintain annual OSHA-TB-blood borne pathogens

    • Maintain annual HIPAA
