Job Responsibilities:
Operate a variety of manual cell machines and equipment used in the production and fabrication of copper and aluminum bar products, including drill presses, tapping machines, deburring equipment, heat shrink application tools, bandsaws, shearing equipment, PEM/hardware installation machines, and manual hole punching equipment
Perform manual machine setups by preparing equipment for production runs, loading and adjusting tooling specific to job requirements, verifying measurements, and ensuring machines are configured correctly prior to operation
Read and interpret work orders, production instructions, blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications to ensure parts are manufactured accurately and meet all required tolerances and dimensions
Monitor machine operations throughout the production process to ensure consistent quality, proper machine performance, and adherence to production schedules while maintaining efficiency and accuracy
Manufacture and process copper and aluminum bar components using manual machining and fabrication methods rather than CNC-controlled equipment, requiring hands-on adjustments and close attention to detail throughout production
Conduct first-off inspections and in-process quality inspections to verify parts meet required specifications, dimensions, and tolerances before continuing production runs
Utilize precision measuring tools and inspection equipment such as tape measures, calipers, go/no-go gauges, and additional quality instruments to confirm product accuracy and compliance with engineering standards
Identify product defects, dimensional inconsistencies, or machine-related issues and make necessary machine or tooling adjustments to maintain quality standards and minimize scrap or rework
Perform deburring, finishing, and hardware installation tasks to ensure finished products are clean, properly assembled, and ready for the next stage of production or shipment
Safely handle raw materials, finished components, and production tooling while maintaining awareness of material flow and preventing product damage during processing
Assist with heat shrink application and related assembly processes while ensuring proper fit, finish, and compliance with production specifications
Maintain organized workstations and production areas by cleaning machines, removing scrap materials, organizing tools, and following housekeeping standards to support safe and efficient operations
Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic machine maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubricating components, inspecting tooling, and checking equipment for wear or operational issues
Promptly report machine malfunctions, tooling concerns, safety hazards, or production issues to supervisors or maintenance personnel to minimize downtime and maintain workflow efficiency
Work closely with supervisors, quality personnel, and team members to ensure production goals, quality expectations, and safety standards are consistently achieved
Support additional manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, or warehouse functions as needed based on production demands and operational priorities
Job Requirements:
Previous experience operating manual machinery, fabrication equipment, or manufacturing equipment in an industrial or production environment preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manual machining, fabrication, or production processes involving copper, aluminum, or similar materials
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and production specifications with accuracy and attention to detail
Experience performing first-piece inspections, in-process inspections, and quality checks using precision measuring tools and gauges preferred
Proficiency using tape measures, calipers, go/no-go gauges, and other measuring instruments required for dimensional verification and quality control
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects, maintain tight tolerances, and ensure high-quality production standards are consistently met
Ability to safely operate machinery and tools while maintaining focus in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Understanding of workplace safety procedures, machine safety requirements, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, high-visibility vest, hard hat, metatarsal safety shoes, cut-resistant gloves, cotton or nitrile gloves, and cut-resistant sleeves throughout the shift
Ability to lift, move, and handle materials and finished parts safely while performing repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team-oriented manufacturing environment
Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and willingness to assist with overtime or additional production responsibilities as needed
Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company policies and operational procedures
