Manual Machinist
Location: Lake County, Indiana
Pay: $34.20/hour + Benefits
Summary
Work directly for a Lake County, Indiana steel processing plant where you"ll play an important role maintaining tooling, machining equipment, and plant operations. This is an opportunity for an experienced Manual Machinist with Tool & Die expertise to take on a hands-on position supporting production and equipment reliability.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
* Set up and operate manual machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and drill presses, to machine die components and other parts.
* Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot roll-form tooling, cut-off dies, pre-pierce dies, stamping dies, and other production tooling.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical equipment using blueprints, schematics, manuals, precision measuring instruments, and hand/power tools.
* Perform preventive maintenance, equipment installation and repairs, inventory activities, and coordinate with production and engineering on equipment needs.
Required Skills & Experience
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Journeyman Tool & Die Certification.
* 5-7 years of related machining, tooling, or maintenance experience.
* Ability to read blueprints and operate traditional machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and drill presses.
Preferred Skills & Experience
* Documented industrial maintenance training.
* Welding certification or hands-on welding experience.
