Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating manual machining equipment, including Bridgeport mills and manual lathes, to produce high-quality precision parts. Experience with ProtoTRAK milling systems is a strong plus. This role requires attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently from drawings and specifications.  Pay for this role will be based upon your skill, experience and the equipment you have used. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual machining equipment, including Bridgeport vertical mills and manual engine lathes
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to manufacture parts to specification
  • Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other inspection tools
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials and operations
  • Maintain tight tolerances and ensure high-quality workmanship
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and keep work area clean and organized
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production deadlines

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a manual machinist (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Proficiency operating Bridgeport mills and manual lathes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ProtoTRAK milling systems
  • Familiarity with basic CNC concepts or conversational programming
  • Prior experience in a job shop or low-volume, high-mix environment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Lift and move materials up to 50 lbs
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
