Manual Machinist (Lathe & Mill - Setup from Scratch).
Job Summary:
CAM Innovation is hiring an experienced Manual Machinist to set up and machine precision parts using manual lathes and mills.
This is NOT a CNC operator role.
We are looking for someone who can take a job from print to finished part, including setup, tooling selection, and machining strategy. This is hands-on, custom work—not repetitive production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines from raw stock.
- Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Determine machining sequence, tooling, and work holding.
- Machine parts to tight tolerances (±.001” or better).
- Select and adjust feeds and speeds based on material.
- Perform in-process inspection (micrometers, calipers, indicators).
- Troubleshoot issues (chatter, finish quality, dimensional accuracy).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Requirements:
- 3+ years of manual machining experience (lathe & mill required).
- Strong ability to read blueprints and work independently.
- Experience holding tight tolerances consistently.
- Solid understanding of machining fundamentals (feeds, speeds, tooling).
- Ability to set up jobs from scratch (not just run parts).
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
- Experience grinding your own tools.
- Job shop or low-volume, high-mix machining experience.
- Able to make parts based on blueprints.
What This Job Is NOT:
- Not a CNC operator-only position.
- Not a “load and run” role.
- Not repetitive production work.
