Manufacturing Assembler/Operator - Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

The MDM manufacturing organization is set up to offer a developmental ladder for production staff.  This structure is intended to reward skill development and performance and enhance the ability to retain capable people.

\n

The manufacturing staff is small, as product designs are elegantly simple and assembly times are short.  Team members need to develop a range of capabilities and to demonstrate flexibility, cross-training to perform whatever among the variety of tasks is necessary to meet customer requirements on any given day.  Progression is also influenced by quality of work and development of technical proficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

\n

There are five levels in the manufacturing job hierarchy; each level builds on capabilities developed at lower levels.

\n

MANUFACTURING ASSEMBLER/OPERATOR – SPECIALIST

\n

Duties include:

\n

• \n
• Assembly and test of the largest of MDM pump motor units.
• \n
• Activities that include substantial variety and complexity and independence.
• \n
• Assignments that involve a degree of latitude and require planning and analysis.
• \n
• Leadership within the work group that achieves cooperation without formal authority.
• \n

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

\n

Manufacturing Operator/Assembler staff will:

\n

• \n
• Internalize MDM factory operations procedures and assembly steps for each of the product lines.
• \n
• Understand current or existing manufacturing system drivers and learn new ones as processes evolve.
• \n
• Learn MDM existing part numbering systems and new ones as the product portfolio evolves.
• \n
• Track personal production activity and faithfully record production throughput as required.
• \n
• Develop machine operation and technical skills required to contribute effectively as customer demands change from day-to-day.
• \n
• Demonstrate resourcefulness, personal enthusiasm for MDM products & willingness to be proactive in basic vendor interactions.
• \n
• Communicate clearly and effectively.
• \n
• Establish priorities, work independently when necessary, and proceed with objectives in the absence of supervision.
• \n
• Handle conflict effectively and resolve recurring problems diplomatically.
• \n
• Take responsibility for mistakes where appropriate and offer insight to take corrective action.
• \n

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE

\n

The incumbents may have a range of experience, depending on the level of skill required to meet specific MDM manufacturing and development requirements.  Entry level credentials will involve a cooperative attitude, and the ability to be at work reliably and on time.  Progression is achieved with on-the-job experience with demonstrated willingness to take on new assignments and learn new assignments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

\n

Duties are primarily conducted in part in a factory setting.  Consciousness of other people in the workspace is essential, as handling heavy components is an integral part of the job.  In-factory work may involve computers and will involve pumps, water and electricity.  Factory work also involves lifting up to 75 pounds.

\n

\n

Some overtime, holiday, and occasional weekend work may be required to support customers.

\n

\n

Candidates must be able to communicate and understand task instructions, both written and verbal, in English.

\n

\n

Compensation commensurate with skills and experience.
