Position Summary

The Manufacturing Associate plays a critical role in supporting the safe and efficient production of manufactured products. This position is responsible for assisting with all stages of the production process, from raw material handling through final packaging. The role may involve operating production equipment, monitoring manufacturing processes, maintaining quality standards, and supporting facility housekeeping and maintenance activities.

The ideal candidate understands industrial safety practices, basic mechanical operations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), chemical handling practices, quality control principles, and workplace organization requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), workplace policies, and safety regulations.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for assigned tasks and maintain PPE in safe working condition.
  • Operate production equipment and perform assigned tasks as instructed and trained.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process and report potential quality concerns to supervision.
  • Perform equipment startup and shutdown procedures as directed.
  • Participate in cross-training opportunities across multiple production lines and plant operations.
  • Maintain accurate production records, counts, and documentation as required.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.
  • Perform basic autonomous maintenance activities, including greasing, cleaning, and adjusting equipment components.
  • Support departmental safety initiatives and achieve established safety goals.
  • Assist in training new employees and production team members.
  • Perform general labor duties as needed to support production requirements.
  • Attend safety meetings and participate in safety audits and inspections.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures related to safety, quality, security, and operations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and monitor multiple processes simultaneously.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to apply them in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and production needs.
  • Ability to understand and follow posted instructions, signage, and safety requirements.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift operation experience.
  • Experience working with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, chemical handling, or related industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Knowledge of hazard communication programs and workplace chemical safety.
  • Experience operating manufacturing equipment and interpreting operator manuals.

Training Requirements

  • Successfully demonstrate competency in safety rules, regulations, and operational procedures through written or verbal evaluations following training.
  • Demonstrate the ability to safely operate assigned equipment according to established procedures.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to maintain 20/20 vision, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying environmental and temperature conditions.
  • Ability to safely lift and move up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing or plant environment.
