Shape Production for a Mission That Matters
Raytheon–Rafael Area Protection Systems (R2S), a Joint Venture, is expanding—and we’re looking for a Production Support Engineer to champion manufacturing execution and configuration/change control for Iron Dome subassemblies. You’ll be the connective tissue between suppliers, customers, and R2S Engineering, Operations, and Quality—ensuring mechanical, electro‑mechanical, and electrical builds (AUR, Canister, CCAs, Motors, Rocket Motors, Warheads, and other precision-machined components) move from plan to product with rigor and speed.
Security Note: U.S. citizenship is required. This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance (or higher).
A Day in the Life
You start by reviewing overnight supplier updates, then jump into a cross-functional stand-up to triage change requests and nonconformances. By mid-morning, you’re on a supplier floor validating manufacturing plans, tooling, process flow, inventory controls, and facility layout—ensuring producibility and compliance. After lunch, you finalize a Technical Data Package (TDP) for release through the program’s Configuration Control Board and prepare talking points for leadership on supplier performance and risk. You close the day supporting a peer review and building a clear technical presentation for an international customer engineering team.
What You’ll Own
- Lead technical transfer of build knowledge to new suppliers and guide industrialization/readiness.
- Assess and optimize supplier and internal factory planning, tooling, process flows, inventory management, and layouts.
- Build and release TDPs through configuration governance (CCB), maintaining traceability and version integrity.
- Analyze customer Engineering Change Notices for cost/schedule/technical impact and integrate updates into TDPs.
- Translate supplier change requests and NCRs into clear technical risks and coordinate with R2S and customer Quality.
- Support Quality with AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) reviews.
- Brief leadership on supplier status, risk posture, and justify technical changes with data.
- Create concise technical presentations for international customer engineering forums.
- Participate in daily peer reviews; help standardize engineering processes and deploy them in business systems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 5+ years of engineering experience, primarily within aerospace/defense.
- Hands-on background in manufacturing/producibility.
- Proven presenter—able to craft and deliver technical content to leadership and stakeholders.
- Strong command of configuration management principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Advanced problem-solving capability.
- U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret clearance.
- 8+ years of aerospace/defense engineering experience.
- Direct collaboration with international partners on defense/aerospace products.
- Knowledge of CCA manufacturing methods and electrical systems testing.
- Wide-ranging producibility expertise: machining, mechanical and electro‑mechanical assembly, and mix/cast energetics.
- Fluency with GD&T interpretation and application.
- Background working with classified material in a closed area.
- Experience building and assembling to print.
- Manufacturing engineering know‑how (manufacturing planning, lean, etc.).
- Working knowledge of EVMS and ERP systems.
- Comfort engaging with all levels of internal leadership.
Location, Travel, and Schedule
- Work Location: Camden, Arkansas
- Travel: Approximately 15% domestically; rare international trips.
