This is part of our Optical and Photonics Systems Division, we specialize in the design, development, and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art communications systems for military, space, and commercial applications.The Manufacturing Test Engineer will be responsible for the development, maintenance and optimization of test procedures for PCBA, fiber/laser optic assemblies, and electrical hardware solutions for production Space Flight Optical Inter Satellite Link Terminals. This role combines hands‑on testing with engineering support to ensure manufacturing excellence.ResponsibilitiesDevelop test procedures and work instructions for electrical, fiber optic, and laser testing of PCBA and related assembliesOptimize manufacturing test processes to improve efficiency, yield, and qualityPerform characterization and validation testing on complex electromechanical and photonic assembliesTroubleshoot and analyze test failures, implement corrective actions, and process improvementsDevelop and maintain test specifications, test plans, and quality control documentationSelect and qualify test equipment and tooling for cleanroom manufacturing environmentTrain and support technicians in test procedures and equipment operationsCollaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability and testability of productsDocument test results, failure analysis, and process improvements in MES and reporting systemsSupport maintenance and calibration of test equipmentWork in cleanroom environment, ESD and FOD control areas with proper safety precautionsQualificationsRequired:Bachelor's Degree in EE or EET and a minimum of 8 years or an associate's degree and a minimum of 10 years or equivalent combination of education and experience of working in manufacturing test engineering, electronics testing, or related field.Proven experience developing test procedures for complex electromechanical, electronic, fiber optic, and laser assembliesProven technical acumen in the manufacture, test and integration of complex product technologies and systems, DoD or Space.Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.Excellent communication and ability to work well in team environment with people at all levels.Technical SkillsMultimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, spectrum analyzersOptical power meters, optical spectrum analyzersFiber optic test equipment (OTDR, VFL, inspection systems)Laser sources and characterization equipmentData acquisition systems and automated test equipmentStrong understanding of electrical engineering principlesFiber optics theory and applicationsLaser operation, characterization, and safety protocolsDesign for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT)Root cause analysis and problem-solving techniquesTest procedure development and documentationTest automation and scripting (LabVIEW, Python, or similar)Reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and specificationsFailure analysis and troubleshootingDesiredAerospace or space hardware manufacturing experienceExperience with high‑reliability electronics (MIL-STD requirements)Micro-electronics assembly experienceJ-STD-001 with Space Addendum (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies)Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)Laser Safety experienceExperience with free-space optical communications systemsTest automation software – Python/LabVIEWPay Range$71,500 - $150,200CACI is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
