Job Title: Machining Launch Tooling Engineer
Pay Range: $45-46 per hour
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Job Type: W2 Contract.
Expected Hours per Week: 40 hours per week.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Machining Launch Tooling Engineer to support the successful launch and implementation of machining production lines. This role will work closely with Ford's launch team and suppliers to ensure tooling, machining processes, quality systems, and manufacturing operations are delivered successfully while meeting safety, quality, productivity, and environmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support machining processes through tooling development and implementation.
• Support implementation and management of GTSV tool tracking systems.
• Identify tool-dominant features and implement appropriate process controls.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
• Complete PPAP documentation and quality launch requirements.
• Apply engineering principles and analytical methods to improve manufacturing processes and products.
• Investigate manufacturing and supplier issues, develop action plans, and verify corrective actions.
• Lead and conduct process audits to ensure compliance with Powertrain manufacturing guidelines.
• Create process sheets, work instructions, and quality documentation.
• Deliver capable tooling and processes for gear machining operations.
• Lead variability reduction, lean manufacturing initiatives, and best practice implementation.
• Ensure compliance with Plant, Corporate, Governmental, Environmental, and ISO 14001 standards.
• Support internal ISO audits and environmental compliance activities.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5+ years of machining, tooling, or manufacturing engineering experience.
• Experience with tooling development, tool design, and machining processes.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers, launch teams, and manufacturing operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• Experience in high-volume production machining environments.
• Experience with gear machining and gear blade grinding.
• Experience programming Tool Presetters (Royal/Zoller).
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
• Experience with FMEA, PPAP, and DOE methodologies.
• CNC Mill experience.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 and manufacturing quality systems.
• Automotive powertrain manufacturing experience preferred.
