Job Description
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team supporting developing and mature production programs in a fabrication shop environment. The role performs routine manufacturing engineering work using standard techniques and procedures, with accountability for determining manufacturing processes, sequencing operations, and preparing tooling, gauging, and N/C programs for complex machined parts and sub-assemblies.
Responsibilities:
- Determine manufacturing procedures and establish operation sequencing for pre-production and production phases.
- Prepare tooling and gauging lists and write detailed operation sheets for complex machined parts and sub-assemblies.
- Develop, prepare, and prove out N/C programs and use computer systems to generate operation sheets and standards.
- Establish engineered or estimated setup and run time standards for each operation.
- Provide technical support to production shops to solve issues related to tooling, machine tools, gauging, heat treat, and plating.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Product/Design Engineering, Quality Assurance, M&P, Inspection, Production, Purchasing, Scheduling, and vendors to resolve problems.
- Apply concurrent engineering principles in partnership with internal engineering groups.
- Perform assignments that may include tasks typical of a higher level for training and development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency with manufacturing process planning, operation sequencing, and time standards.
- Experience preparing and proving out N/C programs and producing detailed operation sheets.
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues involving tooling, machine tools, gauging, heat treat, and plating.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Competence with engineering computer systems for documentation, programming, and standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Background in fabrication shop environments and complex machined components.
- Familiarity with concurrent engineering and collaboration with design engineering and quality functions.
