Position Summary: Manufacturing Engineer
The Manufacturing Engineer supports production operations by developing, optimizing, and maintaining manufacturing processes, tools, and workflows. This role ensures products are built efficiently, safely, and in compliance with quality, cost, and delivery targets while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing environment.
Manufacturing Processes Supported: Manufacturing Engineer
- Manual Assembly: Utilizes standard assembly jigs (non-automated) with typical tolerances of +/- .030.
- Precision Machining: 5-axis milling and NC turning for aluminum and stainless-steel components.
- Composites Manufacturing: Fabrication of carbon fiber details and honeycomb structure assemblies.
- Required Tools & Software
- CAD: CATIA V5
- PLM: Siemens Teamcenter
- ERP: SAP
- Continuous Improvement & Quality Standards
- Methodologies: Lean Manufacturing principles and Kaizen events.
- Standards & Controls: ASME Y14.5?2018 (GD&T), PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and AS9100 quality compliance alongside customer-specific requirements.
Key Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Manufacturing Engineer
- Design & Producibility: Evaluate designs during reviews to resolve producibility issues and define tooling philosophy.
- Process Planning: Develop Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs), work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Procurement: Issue purchase orders for tooling and necessary manufacturing equipment.
- Production Support: Provide hands-on shop floor support to troubleshoot assembly and machining issues.
- 5+ years in manufacturing engineering preferred.
